Job Role - Senior Linux Systems Engineer Location - Washington, DC (Onsite) Duration - 6+ Month LinkedIn - Must Visa - USC,GC,GC EAD only Interview - Skype Job Description Objective: seeking one Linux Senior Systems Engineer Administrator to serve on the Open Systems team to support the CAO. Individual contractor support is needed to provide operational support, maintenance, monitoring, and tune system performance on Red Hat servers within the House Information Resources. Background: organization comprises more than 600 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, childcare, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel. Contractor assistance is needed to provide in-depth expertise with Red Hat servers and to provide technical guidance to HIR staff and other contractors. Scope: This Linux Senior Systems Engineer contractor will serve full-time (40 hours per week), to assist EO&F on the Open Systems Team in support of daily provide operational support, maintenance, monitoring, and tune system performance on Red Hat servers Description of Work: Proactively maintain and develop Linux infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service. Engineer systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs. Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments. Ensures systems follow security guidelines and standards as well as perform and analyze security audits. Research, diagnose and resolve complex computer system software and hardware issues as they arise. Proactively monitoring system performance and perform capacity planning. Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, and installs on servers. Create and modify scripts to perform tasks, leverage system administration software as needed. Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment. Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes. Candidate Capability Requirements/Experience: Previous working experience as a Linux Administrator for a minimum of 3 years. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar relevant degree. In depth command line knowledge and troubleshooting of RedHat OS version 7,8 and 9 operating systems. Experience with RedHat Satellite, Ansible, Ansible Automation Platform and Open Shift. Ability to multi-task. Experienced in writing shell scripts. Strong problem solving and communication skills. Familiarity with VMWare and SAN management and concepts. Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP. Linux certifications will be considered an advantage. Candidates must be able to secure and maintain Federal Government security clearances as deemed appropriate by management.
