Job Title: Data Governance Analyst Location: Remote Duration: 6+Months Contract Summary: Client is looking for a Data Governance Analyst to assist with the execution of our data governance strategy. This role will focus on identification and documentation of business glossary terms and business and technical metadata for physical data assets. The ideal candidate possesses strong understanding of data governance principles and data management practices. Duties and Responsibilities: Partner with data stewards and other subject matter experts to curate and govern terms and other assets in the business glossary. Assist the organizational adoption of the data governance platform by providing user documentation, training, and demonstrations to ensure proper usage and adherence to processes and procedures. Partner with subject matter experts to ingest metadata from new data sources. Partner with data stewards and other subject matter experts to classify and categorize metadata based on sensitivity and establish criteria to protect sensitive information. Collaborate with the project teams to deliver data catalog use cases which include design, configuration and deployment. Gather data dictionaries and other business and technical metadata for physical data assets. Partner with developers to document data lineage for physical data assets. Create data flow documentation, process workflow documentation and definition, current state documentation and requirements gathering Communicate findings to relevant stakeholders. Perform day-to-day configuration and maintenance of the data governance platform. Perform audits of glossary and metadata/catalog content and data governance processes. Collaborate with data governance team to foster a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment. Document reference data list of valid values. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bachelors degree in Healthcare, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field. Demonstrated experience (5+ years) in data analysis, database development, data warehousing, or data analytics. Demonstrated experience (3+ years) in data governance, data management, or a related role. Demonstrated experience using data governance platforms such as erwin Data Intelligence, Collibra, Alation, or Informatica. Demonstrated experience in data modelling, data mapping and data profiling. Demonstrated experience with SQL. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Additional Qualifications Understanding and familiarity with healthcare insurance data is preferred. Understanding of data privacy and protection regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, or other relevant laws and regulations is preferred. Understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and metadata management is a plus. Experience and hands on knowledge of master and reference data management is a plus. Industry certifications such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) are a plus.
