Job Summary:

The Senior Grid Modeler will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing grid models to support planning, operation, and optimization of utilitys electrical grid. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical grid systems, advanced modelling techniques, and ability to analyze complex data to improve grid performance and reliability.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Grid Modelling and Simulation

    Develop, calibrate, and validate detailed electrical grid models using advanced simulation software.

    Perform load flow, stability, short-circuit, & dynamic studies to assess grid performance under various scenarios.

    Analyze impact of renewable energy integration, distributed generation, & new technologies on grid stability & reliability.

Data Analysis and Visualization

    Collect and analyze grid data from various sources to identify trends, anomalies, and potential issues.

    Utilize data analytics tools to interpret complex datasets and provide actionable insights.

    Create detailed reports and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders.

Planning and Optimization

    Collaborate with grid planners to develop long-term and short-term grid expansion plans.

    Optimize grid operations to enhance efficiency, reduce losses, and improve service reliability.

    Conduct scenario analysis to support decision-making for future grid investments and upgrades.

Regulatory Compliance and Reporting

    Ensure grid models and operations comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.

    Prepare documentation and reports for regulatory submissions and compliance audits.

    Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry developments affecting grid modelling and operations.

Collaboration and Leadership

    Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate modelling efforts with broader company initiatives.

    Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior modellers and engineers.

    Lead and participate in project teams focused on grid modernization and innovation.

Qualifications:

    Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems, or a related field. Masters degree preferred.

    Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in electrical grid modelling, simulation, and analysis.

    Proficiency in advanced grid simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP).

    Knowledge of power systems engineering including load flow analysis, stability analysis, & short-circuit calculations.

    Experience with data analytics tools and techniques for large datasets.

    Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to electrical grid operations.

Preferred Skills:

    Experience with renewable energy integration and distributed energy resources.

    Knowledge of advanced optimization techniques and tools.

    Familiarity with machine learning and artificial intelligence applications in grid modelling
