The ability to telework and the schedule is up to the reporting managers discretion. Contract Period: Initial contract period is six months, with ongoing six-month renewals. This position is on a grant project. The grant is scheduled to end December 31, 2025. Prior to that date, a review of all grant project resources will be conducted, and a determination made if the resource can be retained/extended or if their PO will end. Interviews: Virtual interviews require the candidate to have both audio and video capabilities. The filling of the position may occur at any point during this process. Position Summary The Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia is seeking to fill an open position for a Senior/Lead Quality Assurance Test Automation Engineer. In this role the candidate will provide technical, quality leadership and guidance to the assigned project resources, by working with the project team to develop test plans, test cases, automation test scripts, and test execution. Contributing to and helping maintain the testing framework for various types of testing (functional, load/performance, security). Operating in an agile software delivery methodology focused on testing new features within an iteration and providing near immediate feedback to through test automation. Duties Oversee and participate in the writing, designing, and executing automated tests by creating scripts that run testing functions automatically. Maximize test coverage for the most critical features of the system. Determine the priority for test scenarios and create execution plans to implement these scenarios. Expand upon the existing test automation framework. Log and document defects. Ensure testing task timelines are being met. Minimum Qualifications 8+ years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance. 4+ years of experience using test automation technologies. A bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Extensive experience in software testing methodologies, test planning, and execution strategies. Comprehensive knowledge of the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Knowledge of industry best practices in quality assurance. Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead and mentor a team of QA professionals. Proficient in designing and implementing robust and scalable automation frameworks. Expertise in designing and optimizing performance tests. Ability to recommend and implement performance testing strategies. Proven experience with Selenium and JMeter. Proven experience with scripting and programming languages relevant to Selenium and JMeter (e.g., Java, Python). Capability to review and enhance code quality in automated scripts. Experience in creating strategic test plans aligned with overall project objectives and business goals. Ability to define and execute comprehensive testing strategies. Familiarity with industry trends and emerging technologies in QA. Strong collaboration skills to work closely with development, product management, and other cross-functional teams. Expertise in managing complex test environments and ensuring their stability and reliability. Proficient in defining and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) for testing processes. Ability to generate comprehensive test reports for management. Preferred Qualifications 12+ years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance. 8+ years of experience using test automation technologies. A masters degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. In-depth knowledge of industry best practices in quality assurance. Ability to make strategic decisions regarding the selection and implementation of automation tools and frameworks. Proven experience with mock frameworks (e.g., Mockito, JMockit). In-depth knowledge of scripting and programming languages relevant to end to end automation testing (Java, Python, Typescript etc.). Proven ability to identify and assess project risks related to quality and testing. Experience in implementing risk mitigation strategies. Proactive in identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing changes. Ability to communicate testing insights effectively to diverse stakeholders. Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to software testing. Experience in strategic planning for long-term quality assurance initiatives. Tool Experience Automation testing tools: Selenium. Test artifact management: Zephyr. API testing tools: SoapUI, Postman. Defect and task tracking: Jira Working Conditions: Work Environment: This is a remote position with occasional needs to meet at the Supreme Court of Virginia office for project related meetings, etc. Equipment: The resource will use their personal computer, a laptop or desktop computer (with Windows 11 Pro), to remotely connect to their assigned client workstation, via VPN. A personal webcam and audio equipment will be required when participating in virtual meetings. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods and use computer equipment.
