Position: R&D IT Semantic Data Engineer Location: Remote-USA Duration: 12 Months Contract MSD is seeking a senior semantic data engineer to build knowledge graphs to support target selection in pharmaceutical research. In this role, the data engineer will integrate diverse datasets in a knowledge graph based on internal and public standard ontologies and reference data. This knowledge graph will be built as a data product with analysis-ready data for MSD's data scientists, allowing them to build machine learning models for identification and prioritization of potential therapeutic drug targets. Key responsibilities Knowledge graph construction (e.g., mapping data to internal standard ontologies and reference data) ETL jobs for diverse public or internal datasets (e.g., data about targets, diseases, phenotypes, and drugs) Data preparation for machine learning (e.g., creating queries to export subgraphs from knowledge graphs, export to adjacency matrices or tensors) Required experience and skills Semantic web technology stack (e.g., RDF data format, SPARQL query language) Data engineering (e.g., SQL, ETL jobs) Programming in Python and/or Java, or a comparable programming language Amazon Web Services, particularly the serverless services (e.g., Lambda, Glue, Step Functions) Experience with DevSecOps practices like continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD), source code version control (e.g., Git), infrastructure-as-code (e.g., CloudFormation, Terraform), containers (e.g., Docker). Desired experience and skills Experience with Atlassian stack of tools for agile software development (e.g., Jira, Confluence). Good communication and collaboration skills, and ability to collaborate with other teams to develop solutions. Demonstrates growth mindset and ability to work with enterprise teams.
