Job Title: Sybase SME with Azure SQL Expertise Location: Weehawken, NJ Key Responsibilities: Database Management: Manage, administer, and support Sybase databases, including installation, configuration, and maintenance. Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and reliability. Implement backup and recovery strategies for Sybase databases. Troubleshoot and resolve database issues and performance problems. Azure SQL Integration: Design and implement database solutions on Azure SQL, including migration strategies from Sybase to Azure SQL. Manage and optimize Azure SQL databases, including performance tuning and cost management. Ensure seamless integration between Sybase and Azure SQL databases. Develop and execute strategies for data migration and synchronization. Collaboration and Support: Work closely with development teams to support database-related requirements and ensure database solutions meet business needs. Provide guidance and support to junior database administrators and developers. Develop and maintain documentation related to database architecture, processes, and procedures. Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce database security policies and practices. Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and company policies. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in database technology, including both Sybase and Azure SQL. Propose and implement improvements to database architecture and processes. Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Masters degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure SQL Database Administrator) is a plus. Experience: Proven experience as a Sybase DBA or SME with a strong understanding of Sybase database management and administration. Hands-on experience with Azure SQL, including database design, migration, and optimization. Experience with database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and troubleshooting. Skills: Strong knowledge of SQL and database scripting. Proficiency in database tools and utilities. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
