| From: Steve, Talent Groups [email protected] Reply to: [email protected] Position Title: Senior AWS Cloud Architect Address: Chelsea Massachusetts 02150 Duration: 11+ Months Position Overview: This individual will be essential in transitioning our on-premises Oracle and SQL Server databases to AWS RDS and converting some databases to PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience with AWS RDS, strong knowledge of database migration strategies, and the ability to collaborate closely with our in-house database support team to ensure a seamless transition. Key Responsibilities: Lead database migration: Oversee the transition of on-premises Oracle and SQL Server databases to AWS RDS. Database conversion: Transform selected databases from Oracle/SQL Server to PostgreSQL. Migration strategy development: Formulate and implement a detailed migration plan, including design and execution. Team collaboration: Work alongside the in-house database support team to transfer knowledge and ensure they can manage and maintain the new RDS environment. Database optimization: Conduct performance tuning and optimization in the new RDS environment. Data integrity and security: Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance throughout the migration process. Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation of migration processes, configurations, and best practices. Post-migration support: Provide support and troubleshooting after migration to ensure databases operate efficiently on AWS RDS. Stay informed: Keep abreast of the latest AWS RDS features, best practices, and industry trends. Technical planning: Engage in technical planning, architecture development, and modification of specifications for cloud computing environments. Product development: Develop specifications for new IT cloud computing products and service offerings. Compatibility assessment: Evaluate the compatibility and integration of proposed products/services to ensure a cohesive architecture across interdependent technologies. Executive advising: Advise executives on developing functional strategies for significant matters. SME in cloud products: Act as the subject matter expert in building cloud products with a passion for learning. Qualifications: Educational background: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Proven experience: Demonstrated experience in migrating on-premises databases to AWS RDS. AWS RDS expertise: Strong knowledge of AWS RDS, including setup, configuration, and maintenance. Hands-on database experience: Practical experience with Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases. Migration tools knowledge: Familiarity with database migration tools and techniques (e.g., AWS Database Migration Service, Schema Conversion Tool). AWS services familiarity: Understanding of AWS services and infrastructure, including IAM, EC2, S3, VPC, and CloudWatch. Problem-solving skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Communication skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. AWS certification: Certification in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Database Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) is a plus. Preferred Skills: Performance tuning experience: Experience with database performance tuning and optimization. Security best practices: Knowledge of database security best practices. Data compliance understanding: Understanding of data compliance and governance requirements.
