We are currently seeking a Nuclear Design Engineer for a 1-year contract position. This role is 100% remote, but candidates must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Position: Nuclear Design Engineer

Duration: 1 Year Contract

Location: 100% Remote (Candidates must be eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810)

Position Summary: The Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) design engineering organization generates technical requirements and associated design parameters for the modular advanced light water reactor (ALWR) NSSS. Utilizing proven state-of-the-art methodologies, NSSS components are engineered to nuclear industry standards. The individual in this position will perform design and stress analyses of pressure vessels and piping in accordance with ASME BPVC Section III and applicable regulatory requirements. All work within the NSSS design organization is completed under ASME NQA-1 quality assurance requirements and U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission guidelines.

Minimum Skills, Qualifications, and Abilities:
Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, from a four-year ABET accredited college or university. An advanced degree is preferred. A Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification is required.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years of full-time relevant working experience is required. Candidates must demonstrate extensive ASME Code Section III NB-3200 and NG-3200 knowledge; Subsection NF knowledge is also preferred. Design experience for ASME Code components is required; ASME Code Design Specification experience is required; ASME Design Specification certifying experience is preferred.
Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Possesses excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application, including detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and regulations.
Performs and documents evaluations of components to the rules and requirements of Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, and utilizes results to optimize component design.
Prepares and/or reviews engineering specifications, CAD models, and other documentation that communicate the design and technical aspects of components, systems, and structures associated with the NSSS.
Interprets scope and project requirements; acquires, maintains, and develops training qualifications; provides guidance and mentoring to staff.
Interacts with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems.
Performs other duties as assigned.
