The selected candidate will collaborate with both business and IT organizations to develop and refine their continuity strategies. Key responsibilities include providing expert advice, assessing risks, and implementing solutions to ensure the organization is fully prepared for unexpected disruptions. This role encompasses the development of emergency management plans, disaster recovery plans for critical physical locations such as data centers, and the testing of documented recovery strategies and plans. Responsibilities: Disaster Recovery Planning: Develop disaster recovery plans for physical locations with critical assets such as data centers. Contingency Planning: Create contingency plans to manage organizational emergencies, ensuring continuity of critical departmental processes or temporary shutdowns of non-critical departments. Plan Testing: Test and refine documented disaster recovery strategies and plans, ensuring their effectiveness. Risk Analysis: Analyze the impact on and risks to essential business functions or information systems to determine acceptable recovery time periods and resource requirements. Emergency Management: Develop emergency management plans to support recovery decision-making, communications, and continuity of governance. Review and Integration: Review existing disaster recovery, crisis management, or business continuity plans and oversee their integration and operation. Communication Plans: Establish, maintain, or test call trees to ensure appropriate communication during a disaster. Reporting: Write detailed reports summarizing testing activities, including planning, execution, results, analysis, conclusions, and recommendations. Budgeting: Create and manage business continuity and disaster recovery budgets. Professional Development: Attend professional meetings, read relevant literature, and participate in training or other educational offerings to stay informed of new developments and technologies related to disaster recovery and business continuity. Mandatory Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following mandatory qualifications to be considered: Disaster Recovery Plans: Experience in developing disaster recovery plans for physical locations with critical assets such as data centers. Contingency Planning: Proven ability to develop contingency plans for organizational emergencies. Plan Testing: Experience in testing documented disaster recovery strategies and plans. Risk Analysis: Ability to analyze the impact on and risks to essential business functions or information systems. Risk Assessment: Experience in assessing risks to business operations. Emergency Management: Ability to develop emergency management plans for recovery decision making and continuity. Reviewing Plans: Experience in reviewing existing disaster recovery, crisis management, or business continuity plans. Communication Trees: Proficiency in establishing, maintaining, or testing call trees for disaster communication. Plan Integration: Experience in overseeing contingency plan integration and operation. Reporting: Ability to write comprehensive reports summarizing testing activities. Budget Management: Experience in creating and managing business continuity and disaster recovery budgets. Professional Development: Commitment to attending professional meetings, reading relevant literature, and participating in ongoing training. Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Desirable Skills/Experience: Certifications: Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Disaster Recovery Engineer (CDRE) preferred. Industry Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in developing and implementing Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans across multiple industries. Risk Assessment & Analysis: Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, business impact analyses, and continuity exercises. Educational Background: BA or BS in a relevant field such as Business Continuity Management, Disaster Recovery, Information Technology, or Risk Management. Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and cloud services. Data Recovery: Understanding of data backup and recovery technologies. Software Proficiency: Proficiency in risk management software and tools. Critical Thinking: Situational awareness, abstract thinking, adaptability, and risk management skills. Plan Execution: Ability to create or execute business continuity plans, IT technical recovery plans, business continuity policies, and crisis management plans. Documentation: Skill in creating clear and comprehensive documentation for BCDR plans and procedures. Training Delivery: Capability to deliver training and awareness programs to ensure staff readiness. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to assess potential risks and vulnerabilities within the organization. Prioritization: Capacity to evaluate and prioritize critical business functions and resources. Strategy Development: Capability to develop strategies for minimizing disruption and maintaining continuity during a disaster.
