ETL/IICS, Tableau or Cognos POSITION OVERVIEW: - Data Office is seeking a Senior Cloud Data Architect to play a crucial role in leading Data platform architecture design and implementation. The Data Office is leading a central Data Modernization program that will include new central data capabilities, as well as improvements and coordination with its 12 constituent agencies, such as the Department of Public Health and the Department of Mental Health. The ideal candidate is an expert in Design and implementation of Cloud Data platforms using decentralized Data architecture principles like Data Mesh. You can clearly articulate and present different data architecture principles and standards. In this role, you are comfortable speaking to both business and technical stakeholders to ensure combined understanding and collaborative solutions. This role will be expected to own tasks and follow-up related to cloud data platform Design and development activities and establish well documented best practices and processes related to the Data Modernization efforts. This is a new role for an expanding office which will lead Data architecture activities. The role will be highly visible to EOHHS IT & agency leadership, as well as across to other Executive Offices. In the first 6 months, you will work with the Chief Data Officer, Director of Data Management and Engineering, Platform Administrators and Data Engineers to support data modernization efforts around enterprise data mesh using modern cloud data tools (Snowflake, IICS) and the ability to produce core KPIs on agency activities through Tableau. Data will be combined from multiple federated data sources, such as agency applications and data warehousing, into a coherent reporting and analytical picture for EOHHS. As the program matures, opportunity will arise to engage in more challenging analytical problems. DETAILED LIST OF JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Designs and develops architecture of cloud-based data management systems. Proficiency and practical experience in implementing decentralized data architectures like Data Mesh. Creates data models including data storage, access, and usage patterns for cloud environments. Defines data security policies, authentication, and authorization mechanisms for cloud-based platforms. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to architect highly scalable, highly available, and highly performant cloud data solutions. Evaluates and recommends new cloud products and services for efficient data storage and processing. Monitors the performance of cloud data solutions and strategizes optimization measures. Ensures compliance with data governance policies and best practices in the cloud. Implements data management and data governance processes for cloud data. Conducts thorough analysis and documentation of cloud data architecture strategies and designs. Establish regular overall system performance assessment processes and action plans. Provide direction for the design and development of the data layers including review of ETL requirements. Capable of leading team design sessions and facilitating decisions. Experience in Data Integration leveraging Informatica Snowflake, IICS, SQL and Python code to solve complex use cases.
