Job Title: Nursing Simulation Technician Location: Head office - 8300 Norman Centre Dr #300, Bloomington, MN 55437 Mode: W2-Contract Summary: Under the direction of the Nurse Administrator and National Simulation Director, the Simulation Technician will provide technical and operational support of the day-to-day operations within the nursing simulation program. Overall responsibilities include the support of daily operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of all aspects of simulation technologies including simulators, manikins, control devices, and audio-visual equipment where applicable. This individual will work in collaboration with the National Simulation Director, Simulation Success Specialist, Campus Simulation Champion, Nursing Leadership, Campus Director, faculty, and students to promote excellence and support the strategic vision for simulation education at Rasmussen University. This position requires excellent time management skills, organization, and communication skills Key Accountabilities National Simulation Program Operations 75% Maintain simulation activities and learner confidentiality. Attend meetings with vendors as needed. Complete technology assessments and provide recommendations for purchasing. Develop communication regarding simulation technology updates and processes. Advise on new simulation lab buildouts, lab updates, on all technical components (hardware, space, server room) and layout. Determine all technical hardware needed for simulation projects. Prepare bill of materials for simulation related projects. Work with vendors to source technical components within the budget scope. Ensure all technical components are prepared, ordered, delivered, and ready for simulation related installations well in advance of project implementation in collaboration with APEI. Meet vendors on-site to facilitate installation of simulation specific technology. Facilitate access, coordinate joining of vendor hardware/software to Rasmussen networks. Coordinate with vendor engineers and IT Service Provider network and security teams to grant proper access. Coordinate with Applications teams and vendors to ensure all required website certificates are in place and that newly created web content is properly directed. Complete final systems testing with Rasmussen leadership as needed. Ensure cleanup was performed, cables are managed for safety and aesthetics, and devices and ports are clearly labeled. Document and track tickets related to simulation issues accurately and effectively. Trains faculty on the operations equipment and technical aspects of running a simulation day. Collaborates with the National Simulation Director to maintain records related to equipment warranties and maintenance plans. Maintain proficiency in existing and emerging quality, safety, and simulation technologies. Collects data for ongoing data collection and benchmarking. Performs equipment software and firmware updates for simulation equipment and technology. Maintains and repairs all simulation equipment including. Patient manikins, simulators, task trainers, SimPads, Instructor PCs, patient monitors technology, and a variety of medical equipment. Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and contacts vendors as needed Position Requirements A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in a simulation center as a simulation technician or similar role. High degree of technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Experience with the set-up and troubleshooting simulation technology, medical equipment, AV systems, or similar (Laerdal, EMS). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and prioritization skills. Ability to lift, move, up to 50 pounds. Ability to work a flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends as needs dictate. Preferred (not required): Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS). Experience with Laerdal simulators and software. Experience with EMS AV recording systems. Degree Level Required: Professional certificate, diploma or applied associate degree is required. Bachelors degree preferred. Looking forward to work with you !!
