(Note: If you are not interested please share it to your friends/Colleagues, Thanks in advance Role: MongoDB Database Administrator Location: Austin/Dallas, TX Long-term Contract Experience: 10+ Years Role Description: As a MongoDB Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the design, configuration, and management of MongoDB databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. You will work with multi-node sharded clusters and replica sets, implement security measures, and automate various database operations. Your role will involve deploying and migrating MongoDB instances, tuning performance, and integrating with AWS. Key Responsibilities: Database Configuration: Configure MongoDB replica sets and sharded clusters based on application requirements. Design and implement multi-node MongoDB sharded clusters and replica sets on Linux platforms. Ops Manager Setup: Set up MongoDB Backup and Recovery Solutions (BRS) and Ops Manager. Onboard replica sets and sharded clusters onto Ops Manager and perform Ops Manager upgrades. Security Enhancement: Implement MongoDB security enhancements using X509 and TLS authentication to comply with Apple security standards. Configure SSL key files for securing mongod instances. Automation: Automate backup, restore, and monitoring jobs using Python and shell scripting. Cluster Management: Add or remove replica and shard nodes as needed. Create text indexes for querying specific documents with string content. Convert replica sets to sharded clusters for better query rate planning. Upgrade & Migration: Perform upgrades and migrations of replica sets and sharded clusters, including from version 4.0 to 4.xx. Migrate MongoDB clusters to AWS. Monitoring & Tuning: Deploy, migrate, monitor, analyze, and tune MongoDB instances. Utilize tools for performance monitoring and optimization. Documentation: Document MongoDB installation, operations, security, and auditing procedures for multiple environments. Query Optimization: Understand and apply query plan architecture, performance tuning at host and database levels, and implement range-based and hash-based sharding/indexing. Essential Skills: MongoDB Expertise: Extensive experience in designing, installing, and configuring multi-node MongoDB sharded clusters and replica sets on Linux platforms. Security: Strong knowledge of MongoDB security features, including X509 authentication, TLS, and SSL key configuration. Ops Manager: In-depth knowledge of MongoDB Ops Manager, including setup, upgrade, and management of Groups and Projects. Performance Monitoring: Proficiency with performance monitoring tools like Dynatrace, Splunk, DataDog, and Akamai. Scripting: Ability to automate tasks using Python and shell scripting. Cluster Management: Experience with adding/removing nodes, creating text indexes, and converting replica sets to sharded clusters. Upgrade & Migration: Experience with MongoDB upgrade and migration processes, including transitioning clusters to AWS. Replication & Sharding: Extensive knowledge of MongoDB replication architecture, change streams, and sharding strategies (range-based and hash-based). Desirable Skills: Version Control: Exposure to Bitbucket or similar version control systems. Containerization: Knowledge of Docker and microservices architecture. Scripting & DevOps: Experience with shell scripting, Linux platforms, and DevOps operations. Cloud Experience: Hands-on experience with migrating MongoDB clusters to AWS.
