Job Details A Dynamic and well-funded startup looking for a highly skilled Senior or Lead-level Backend Engineer with extensive Data Engineering experience to join a growing team. Their ideal candidate has experience working in at both a startup and larger tech company and is eager to apply those experiences to build something from scratch using what they know. The role offers advancement to lead or manager level (depending on the candidate). They are onsite 2 days a week. Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services and systems - Architect and optimize data pipelines to manage and process large-scale data efficiently - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate diverse services and data sources - Implement and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes for scalable solutions - Ensure high performance, security, and availability of backend infrastructure - Diagnose and resolve complex issues in both development and production environments - Contribute to architectural discussions, bringing innovative ideas and solutions to the team Requirements - 6-12 years of experience as a Backend Engineer with a strong focus on data engineering - Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, Node, Rust, Go, or similar - Experience with building API's end to end and event-driven software or Microservices - Experience with large scale data systems and various tools such as Kafka, ETL, Spark, PySpark, MongoDB, Kubeflow, Snowflake, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, or similar - Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration - Expertise in AWS cloud services, Terraform was a big plus - Experience with MongoDB and PostgreSQL - Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively - Strong communication skills and the ability to contribute to architectural decisions Preferred: - Previous experience at both startup environments and larger tech companies like Twitter or Meta - Demonstrated ability to design and build systems from scratch - Experience building data infrastructure from scratch at a fast-growing startup with an understanding of data modeling, ontologies, and knowledge graphs.
