Job Description: We are seeking a skilled Java/Scala Developer to join our team and play a key role in developing and maintaining our next-generation fraud screening platform for real-time fraud detection and prevention. You will be responsible for ensuring that industrial and departmental best practices are followed and collaborating closely with the architecture team, fraud analytics, reporting, and data governance teams. As a member of an Agile squad, you will contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, share core responsibilities, and take ownership of projects. This role offers exposure to modern software engineering tools and best practices while providing insight into how a leading investment bank detects and prevents fraud. The position involves active participation in a dynamic agile Fleet that uses Scrum for workflow management. You will work both independently on your own initiatives and collaboratively across teams within the firm. Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain a real-time fraud detection platform. Collaborate with the architecture, fraud analytics, reporting, and data governance teams. Contribute to all stages of the development lifecycle within an Agile environment. Follow best practices and ensure the delivery of high-quality, maintainable code. Collaborate across multiple teams to align with the overall technical direction. Required Skills and Experience: Core Java Programming: Commercial experience with strong proficiency in Java. Functional Programming: Experience with a functional programming language. Scala Programming: Hands-on experience with Scala. Microservices: Fundamental knowledge of microservices architecture. Databases: Strong experience with distributed caching and relational databases such as Sybase, Oracle, and MSSQL. Middleware: Exposure to middleware technologies such as MQ and Kafka. Linux Environment: Experience working in a Linux environment. Distributed Systems: Understanding of distributed system design and infrastructure. Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills with a professional demeanor. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach. Investment Banking Experience: Recent experience in the investment banking industry is a must.
