100% Remote-Backend Microservices Lead, San Jose, CA Title : Backend Microservices Lead Location: San Jose, CA, United States Onsite Flexibility: 100% Remote Description: As a Backend Microservices Architect, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing the implementation of scalable and efficient microservices-based backend systems. Your role will involve architecting solutions that adhere to best practices in microservices design, ensuring high performance, reliability, and maintainability. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into robust architectural designs. Key Responsibilities: 1. Architect and design backend microservices solutions, considering scalability, performance, security, and maintainability. 2. Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. 3. Define architectural patterns, guidelines, and best practices for backend microservices development. 4. Design and implement RESTful APIs for communication between microservices, ensuring interoperability and standardization. 5. Select appropriate technologies, frameworks, and tools for implementing microservices-based solutions, considering factors such as performance, scalability, and developer productivity. 6. Work closely with DevOps teams to automate deployment, scaling, and monitoring of microservices-based applications. 7. Conduct code reviews, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior team members in microservices architecture and backend development best practices. 8. Stay updated with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in microservices architecture and backend development, and evaluate their applicability to the organization's projects. Qualifications: 1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred. 2. Proven experience (5+ years) in backend development, with a focus on microservices architecture. 3. Strong understanding of microservices architecture principles, patterns, and best practices. 4. Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in backend development, such as Java, Python, Node.js, or Go. 5. Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes. 6. Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Client Cloud Platform, and experience with cloud-native development. 7. Familiarity with databases, both SQL and NoSQL, and experience with data modelling and optimization. 8. Experience with RESTful API design principles and API management tools. 9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and architect complex systems. 10. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ. 2. Familiarity with domain-driven design (DDD) principles and practices. 3. Knowledge of microservices testing strategies and tools. 4. Certification in relevant technologies or frameworks.
