Position: Sr Server Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Denver, CO (onsite 4 days a week)

Top Skills

Server Infrastructure. Have to understand DC server like Cisco, Dell, HP. All have diff tooling. Intersite Cisco enviros.

Dell has a tool called OME, open manage enterprise. HP-OneView is another management tool for HP. Understanding networking and how they interconnect. Infra or arch that servers work, how we test components. Running test cases from vendors, rack and stack. Log in and do configs, test comp of servers, firmware installs and see if its breaking something. Also, steps need to be automated. Help with Ansible, terraform, Python scripting. Good to have.

Project called zero touch deployment o baremetal servers. Server plugged in, server turns on and everything discovered. Tool called canonical Metal as a service (MAAS). Would bring them on top of life.

Big enterprise is great like healthcare or telco is always great.
This is engineer not an admin. Engineer makes recs and suggestions and how enviro needs to be set up!

JOB SUMMARY

Ideal candidate will be responsible for on-premise storage infrastructure evaluation, scheduling and planning, infrastructure QA automation, and infrastructure lifecycle management. Additional responsibilities will include gap analysis and feature enhancement recommendations for current and existing platforms, to ensure operational stability expectations are met or exceeded for application owner service delivery. Directly interfacing with other product owners internal to the team, including Storage, Virtualization, Microservices and Network teams. Participate with cross-functional and cross-organization teams to develop solutions and strategies for Charters Software Defined Data Center.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Continuous evaluation of new and existing server infrastructure capabilities and features, to ensure requirements are met for both existing applications and new product services.

Contributes to architectural discussions, with both internal and external peers, to ensure proposed solutions are meeting business and operational needs.

Collaborates with other engineering and operational organizations to understand requirements and challenges, and recommend solutions.

Responsible for automating the compute and storage certification, bare metal provisioning automation, domain specific automations, etc.

Responsible for creation and maintain documentation including Compute Certifications, Implementation guides, bulletins, and design.

Sets standards for approved infrastructure deployments and integrations.

Support and maintain existing lab infrastructure leveraging defined ticketing and resource scheduling processes.

The ability to multi-task and juggle between priorities as needed.

Works with leadership to refine and effect current processes.

Performs other duties as requested by manager.

BASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering and/or related and/or equivalent work experience.

Extensive experience administrating, integrating and designing data center infrastructure solutions including rack/blade server hardware, virtualization platforms, SAN switching, storage technologies, basic networking and Cloud Management Platforms.

Solid experience designing both physical and virtual solutions for cloud architectures leveraging both blade and rack mount server platforms.

Solid experience designing and engineering Software Defined Data Center solutions for workload optimization and placement.

Solid experience with Cisco UCS B-Series infrastructure and UCS Manager.

Working knowledge of Workflow Orchestration platforms, and Container technologies including Kubernetes and Docker.

Proficient with BASH, Python, Javascript or similar scripting language.

Solid knowledge in robot framework to automate QA testing and robotic processes.

Understanding of infrastructure logging and monitoring solutions, for alerting and reporting.

Experience with automated builds of new datacenter infrastructure deployments leveraging Workflow Automation platforms.

Experienced in creating technical drawings and schematics using Lucid chart or visio.

Experience working in a SAFe/Agile environment utilizing Jira Portfolio/Jira Align to manage projects and daily tasks.

Working experience with TestRail to streamline testing processes.

Experience with CMP service catalog creation.

Experience with Object Storage solutions.

BONUS:

- understanding of zero touch bare metal server provisioning using Canonical MaaS

Hybrid working environment: 4 days/wk in Englewood, CO
