| Job Title: Linux Systems Administrator St. Louis, MO Hybrid Onsite (2 days per week onsite) 6 month engagement We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Linux Systems Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux operating systems on workstations and servers. This role requires customizing Linux environments to meet the specific needs of different departments, such as R&D and Infrastructure, and deploying and managing software applications and development tools. Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems on workstations and servers. Customize Linux environments to meet the specific needs of different departments (e.g., R&D, Infrastructure, etc.). Deploy and manage software applications and development tools for workstations and servers. Manage user accounts, permissions, and authentication mechanisms. Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring workstations run efficiently. Apply system updates, security patches, and maintain overall system security. Develop and maintain scripts for automating system management tasks, including software deployment, configuration changes, and monitoring. Implement configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet) to automate and standardize workstation setups. Ensure compatibility and proper configuration of hardware components, including CPUs, GPUs, storage devices, and peripherals. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware-related issues. Configure and manage network settings on Linux workstations. Ensure secure connectivity for workstations through VPNs, firewalls, and other network security measures. Provide technical support to end-users for Linux-related issues, both remotely and on-site. Diagnose and resolve software, hardware, and network issues in a timely manner. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and policies. Implement and enforce best practices for system security, backup, and disaster recovery that aligns with security governance, risk, and compliance. Qualifications: Proven experience as a Linux Systems Administrator, specifically with Ubuntu Linux command line scripting experience is a must have Experience with VMWare ESXi for server virtualization Experience with configuration management tools, in particular Puppet Proficiency in scripting languages for automating tasks. Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve hardware and software issues. Strong understanding of network configurations and security measures. Ability to work collaboratively with other IT teams and departments.
