Ruby on Rails Developer/must be local to PA Remote Client: Commonwealth of PA 2 In summary, the project is software that PennDOT will be taking over from a vendor. The application was written in Ruby on Rails and was running on AWS. PennDOT wants to port it over to .NET and run it on Azure. PennDOT will need a developer with Ruby on Rails experience that will help with translating and rewriting the application on the new platform. Description: Candidates will work under the direction of the projects Technical Lead and Application Architect to analyze, write, test, and document code to implement system features and enhancements to convert an Amazon Web Services (AWS) to Azure cloud. Skills: Required: 8+ Years Ruby on Rails PostegresSQL AngularJS Preferred: Knowledge and Experience Knowledge of Design Patterns and Solid principles Knowledge of digital accessibility and disability inclusion Knowledge of regulations related to digital accessibility (e.g., Section 508, ADA) Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA requirements Experience designing for platform technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, iOS, Android) Experience applying WAI-ARIA authoring guidelines and best practices Experience optimizing for the accessibility features of the platform (HTML, iOS, Android) Experience developing digital products that comply with accessibility standards Preferred: Applicants with the following qualifications will be preferred: Experience incorporating accessibility tests into the development process Experience building digital products where compliance with accessibility standards is part of definition of done ASP.NET, ASP.NET MVC or ASP.NET Core for building web applications SQL Server / T-SQL, recent experience with Azure SQL. APIs and Integration, RESTful APIs, microservices and event-driven architecture Testing frameworks XUnit/NUnit Prefer: Jasmine and Karma ORM, such as Entity framework and Dapper Containerization Prefer: Docker Cloud services with implementation in .NET Azure Function Azure Queue Azure Storage Azure container registry Key Vault Tools Visual Studio with recent experience in VS2022 and VS Code Azure DevOps /Git o Experience incorporating accessibility tests into the development process Experience building digital products where compliance with accessibility standards is part of definition of done Work details: Work hours are Monday Friday, 8:30am 5:00pm excluding state holidays for a maximum of 40 hours/week. Lunch is 12:00 12:30. The contract assumes an additional 80 hours of unpaid leave in addition to the above per state fiscal year. Work location is majority remote; however, selected candidates will be required to report IN PERSON for an interview at PennDOTs offices at 400 North Street, 5th floor, Harrisburg PA. Engaged candidates will also need to report IN PERSON to pick up equipment as part of onboarding and may be required to report for occasional in-person meetings or training. Selected candidates must provide a completed PATCH check and work authorization done at vendor expense prior to engagement. On-site work location is a secured floor. Engaged candidates must bring a check or money order for $20 payable to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on the first day work to pay for a badge. The agency does not provide parking.
