You will be responsible for installing, configuring, testing, and troubleshooting hardware components within our datacenter environment. Your expertise in VMware integration will be essential for supporting the seamless integration of our hardware with our virtualized infrastructure. Key Responsibilities: Hardware Installation and Deployment: Install custom hardware configurations into designated racks or server cabinets. Ensure proper alignment with power, cooling, and network infrastructure requirements. Configure and reconfigure hardware setups according to R&D team specifications. Maintain and update hardware with the latest BIOS/firmware/driver levels. Testing and Validation: Conduct rigorous testing of hardware configurations to ensure functionality, performance, and compatibility. Perform routine hardware diagnostics and replace faulty components. Collaborate with engineering teams on physical tests, such as pulling out and re-installing drives. Troubleshooting and Debugging: Identify and resolve hardware issues through systematic troubleshooting. Debug hardware failures, connectivity issues, and partner with R&D teams to address problems. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of hardware configurations, including diagrams, instructions, and test results. Generate comprehensive reports on testing outcomes and issues encountered. Required Skills and Qualifications: Strong understanding of hardware components, including servers, storage systems, networking devices, and peripherals. Experience with VMware integration, including switch configuration, storage debugging, connectivity debugging, swapping, PCI cards, firmware upgrades, and managing service outages. Proficiency in troubleshooting and debugging hardware issues. Excellent documentation and reporting skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Desired Skills: Experience with data center operations and infrastructure. Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
