Key Responsibilities: Application Development: Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications and systems running on z/OS. Write and optimize code in COBOL, JCL, and other relevant languages. Create and execute unit tests to ensure code quality and functionality. System Maintenance: Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to mainframe applications and systems. Perform regular maintenance tasks, including applying patches and updates. Ensure system performance, reliability, and security are maintained. Project Involvement: Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and define project scope. Contribute to project planning and implementation, providing technical expertise and guidance. Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers. Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, user guides, and system configuration documents. Document development processes and procedures to ensure consistency and knowledge transfer. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest mainframe technologies, tools, and best practices. Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend enhancements to existing systems and applications. Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Experience: Minimum [X] years of experience as a mainframe developer working with z/OS. Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, and other mainframe programming languages. Experience with mainframe databases (e.g., DB2, IMS) and data management tools. Familiarity with mainframe utilities and tools (e.g., CICS, VSAM).
