A DB2 DBA's responsibilities and required skills can be broadly categorized as follows: Key Responsibilities: Installation and Configuration: 24/7 operational support. Installing and setting up DB2 database software on different platforms (e.g., Windows, UNIX, Linux). Configuring the database environment, including storage, memory, and security settings. Database Design and Architecture: Designing databases and schemas to meet business requirements. Creating and managing tablespaces, tables, indexes, views, and constraints. Planning database architecture for performance, scalability, and redundancy. Performance Tuning: Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the DB2 databases, including tuning queries and indexing strategies.
