This role will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable API solutions, guiding a team of engineers, and aligning integration efforts with business goals. This individual will also drive cost optimization, system performance, and innovation across API-first integration projects while providing technical leadership and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Project Management Align API Integration Strategy with Business Goals: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure API integration efforts support strategic business objectives. Project Leadership: Lead the execution of integration projects across Azure and on-prem systems, ensuring on-time delivery, adherence to business objectives, and alignment with the overall technology strategy. Cloud Cost Optimization & Resource Management: Monitor and manage cloud resource usage, working with project managers to control costs, optimize budgets, and ensure cost-effective project outcomes. Technical Design & Implementation Architect and Develop API Solutions: Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance API solutions across both cloud and on-prem environments using Microsoft Azure services, including Azure Functions, Logic Apps, and API Management. System Integration: Oversee the integration of third-party APIs and services into existing systems, ensuring seamless data flow and secure, reliable data exchanges. Modernization of Legacy Systems: Lead the modernization of legacy applications, refactoring or re-architecting them for compatibility with modern, cloud-native architectures. Automation & CI/CD Pipelines: Implement CI/CD pipelines and automated testing processes to streamline development, reduce deployment cycles, and enhance product quality. Agile Practices & DevSecOps Implementation Agile Process Leadership: Lead the adoption of Agile practices, promoting iterative development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery across the engineering team. DevSecOps Frameworks: Champion DevSecOps principles, ensuring that security and compliance are baked into the development lifecycle, from design to deployment. Refinement of Agile Processes: Continuously refine and enhance Agile methodologies to improve team efficiency and output, ensuring projects meet both technical and business goals. Production Support & Maintenance Production System Oversight: Lead the management of production systems, proactively monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring high availability and system integrity across both cloud and on-prem environments. Rapid Issue Resolution: Develop and implement strategies to ensure the prompt resolution of production issues, minimizing system downtime and ensuring compliance with organizational policies. Team Development & Mentorship Formal Mentorship Program: Develop and lead a structured mentorship program for junior engineers, providing training on best practices for API development, cloud architecture, and security. Leadership Development: Cultivate leadership and technical expertise within the team, encouraging knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and innovation. Documentation & Standards Documentation Leadership: Establish and enforce comprehensive documentation standards, including architectural diagrams, integration designs, and code documentation, ensuring consistency across projects. Coding Standards: Ensure that coding standards and development methodologies are followed across the team, driving high-quality outputs that are maintainable and scalable. Innovation & Continuous Improvement Driving Innovation: Stay current with industry trends, identifying new technologies, frameworks, and methodologies to improve API integration processes and drive innovation within the organization. Continuous Learning: Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement, encouraging the team to adopt cutting-edge technologies and improve existing processes. Vendor & Contract Management Vendor Collaboration: Manage relationships with third-party vendors and API providers, ensuring that external solutions align with organizational standards and meet technical requirements. Contract Management: Collaborate with procurement and project managers to manage vendor contracts, ensuring alignment with project budgets and timelines. Qualifications : Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or experience. Experience: 7+ years of experience in software development with a focus on API-first integrations and .NET technologies (C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core). 3+ years of experience working with Microsoft Azure, including API Management, App Services, and Azure Functions. Proven experience leading development teams and delivering successful API integration projects. Technical Skills: Expertise in Azure services and cloud architectures (e.g., Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Azure SQL, App Services). Strong knowledge of API design, development, and security best practices. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure as code (e.g., Azure DevOps). Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus. Leadership Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, effective team management, and the ability to lead by example, fostering collaboration and innovation. Certifications: Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer) are highly desirable.
