Job Description - JOB TITLE : Embedded Linux Engineer - Skaneateles NY Client Name Baxter Healthcare Duration 3 months contract with the possibility to extend Onsite Location Skaneateles NY Description: Job Description: Senior Embedded Linux/Yocto BSP Engineer Responsibilities: Maintain Yocto-based Linux platforms for medical monitors. Collaborate with teams to update the Yocto Project and SOC vendor components. Develop custom Linux distributions for product lines. Modify device drivers, kernel, and boot loaders. Implement software update methodologies. Configure flash memory and Linux kernel for safety-critical systems. Mentor junior engineers and support product teams. Lead cross-functional discussions to ensure well-formed solutions. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline. 10+ years experience working in the Linux kernel and OE-Core ecosystem. Highly skilled in debugging Linux operating system kernel modules and internal structures. Strong understanding of Yocto/OE-Core and cross-compiler toolchains. Knowledge of network protocols, and hardware architectures. Strong understanding of DRM and integration of specialized SOC vendor drivers for HW acceleration of graphical inputs and outputs. Significant experience with scripting languages, specifically Python and Shell. Preferred Skills Experience working with NXP i.mx series 8 and 9 processor families and applying advanced security measures such as secure boot and SELinux to systems. Medical device experience and a working knowledge of software development life cycle processes, IEC 62304. Familiarity with using cloud-based tools for CI/CD build pipelines. Familiarity with agile practices and ability to work in with Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent sprint planning tools.
