Job Overview: 

Our customer is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer for a 3-6+ month, 80% onsite opportunity located in Nashville, TN. 

This position follows standard business hours, Monday through Friday, with onsite work Monday to Thursday and remote work on Friday. All individuals must currently reside within a reasonable distance of Nashville, TN. No exceptions.

The Infrastructure Engineer oversees all data network design, configuration, and maintenance. They lead efforts in configuring, installing, and managing various networks, devices, and services, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points. Additionally, they configure, install, and troubleshoot phone systems, hosted VOIP, and Microsoft Azure environments. The Infrastructure Engineer monitors facility network performance, ensuring network availability and reliability. They develop and update network standards, documentation, and network maps, ensuring accuracy and consistency. This position provides tier 3 problem escalation and assists other engineers in resolving issues. The ideal candidate will have experience with SD-WAN and emerging technologies such as CASB, SASE, or other network edge devices.

Essential Functions and Duties:

The incumbent should be able to perform the following functions at a level consistent with the actual job requirements:

Oversee all data network design, configuration, and maintenance. Install, configure, and support network and wireless equipment, adhering to company standards and proper documentation.

Develop network documentation and maps, ensuring accurate, up-to-date information.

Update network equipment with the latest firmware releases, patch systems, and schedule upgrades.

Utilize troubleshooting tools and skills, including tracing fiber and CAT 6 cables across multiple IDF closets and patch panels. Label and document cabling and network hardware changes.

Develop systems that integrate emerging technologies, such as voice and data integration (VOIP) and wireless technologies.

Mentor junior Network Engineers and provide support through complex troubleshooting processes. Assign tasks as necessary to appropriate engineering levels.

Maintain a nationwide focus on the overall health of the network, ensuring high availability and performance of network solutions to meet business needs.

Communicate technical information clearly to customers and business units.

Maintain security protocols by updating hardware according to NIST standards to address vulnerabilities.

Conduct complete network baselining and document data flows for all enterprise applications.

Proactively identify potential issues, document them, develop a solution plan, and lead the solution's implementation.

Follow the customer's program management methodology and work collaboratively on project teams. Act as primary project manager for medium to large network design and implementation efforts.

Manage problem and request tickets for assigned technologies, ensuring availability of supported technology.

Domestic U.S. travel is required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from an accredited college or university is required.

Must be local to Nashville, TN.

US Citizens or Green Card Holders only.

Six years of related experience is required.

Cisco CCNP certification is required.

Experience with SD-WAN and new technologies such as CASB, SASE, or other network edge devices.

Additional experience may substitute for education requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Strong understanding of network concepts: Microsoft Azure, LAN/MAN/WAN topologies, VLANs, Switch Trunking Protocol, Virtual Port Channels (VPC), network subnetting, OSPF, BGP, Access Lists, Load Balancers, Wireshark, Orion SolarWinds, NetScout Ngenius, NAC/802.1x, Spanning Tree, and QoS policies. Experience with Extreme Wireless Controllers and Access Points.

Knowledge of DNS/DHCP configurations such as Bluecat DNS and Microsoft DHCP.

Preferred experience with the following hardware/software platforms: FortiNAC, Cisco Nexus (NX-OS) switches, HP/Aruba ClearPass, HP/Aruba 2900/2600/5400 series switches, Cisco 9200/9300 series switches, and Zero Trust framework.

Strong verbal and written communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
