Knowledgeable in most aspects of designing and constructing data architectures, operational data stores, and data marts. Focuses on enterprise-wide data modeling and database design. Additionally, this position will define data architecture standards, policies and procedures for the organization, structure, attributes, and nomenclature of data elements and applies accepted data content standards to technology projects. Responsible for business analysis, data acquisition and access analysis and design, Database Management Systems optimization, recovery strategy and load strategy design and implementation. Qualifications Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field. Or equivalent work experience. A minimum of 7 years of experience with large and complex database management systems. 3-5 years of experience with data architecture, large-scale data modeling, database design, and business requirements analysis preferred. Technical leadership abilities in data architecture preferred. Strong understanding of the best practices in data modeling techniques including in-depth knowledge of the various normalization, dimensional modeling, and their appropriate usage in various solutions preferred. Demonstrated experience in large scale enterprise and data warehouse initiatives, involving multiple departments preferred. Data visualization, data migration and data modeling preferred. Relational database management systems preferred. DBMS software, including SQL Server preferred. Machine learning, predictive modeling, and natural language processing preferred. Data mining and modeling tools preferred. Data management and reporting technologies, predictive analytics, data visualization and unstructured data preferred. Creative and analytical problem-solving capabilities preferred. Database and cloud computing design, architecture, and data lakes preferred. Strong knowledge transfer and mentoring skills; and Ability to communicate technical documentation effectively to both technical and non-technical members of the team preferred. Day to Day Tasks Defines and plans database architectures for enterprise systems. Works on multiple projects as a project leader or as the subject matter expert. Works on projects/issues of high complexity that require in-depth knowledge across multiple technical areas and business segments. Coaches and mentors more junior technical staff. Control project from start to finish to ensure high quality, innovative and functional design. Collaborate with IT teams and management to devise a data strategy that addresses industry requirements. Build an inventory of data needed to implement the architecture. Research new opportunities for data acquisition. Identify and evaluate current data management technologies. Create a fluid, end-to-end vision for how data flows through an organization. Develop data models for database structures. Design, document, construct and deploy database architectures and applications (e.g., large relational databases). Integrate technical functionality (e.g., scalability, security, performance, data recovery, reliability, etc.). Implement measures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility. Constantly monitor, refine, and report on the performance of data management systems. Meld new systems with existing warehouse structures. Produce and enforce database development standards.
