Application Specialist Deployer The Environment The Michelin AI team is attached to central engineering; we are responsible for the LEVEL 2 (Manufacturing Execution systems) the systems that are responsible for communizing with the automation (PLCS) at our 26 manufacturing sites in the Americas. These systems are of Michelin design and are predominantly created in Clermont-Ferrand, France. Currently these systems are predominantly Windows Servers running .NET Framework applications in C# application on with UI (user interfaces) in either legacy ASP.Net or WPF with back end Oracle Database. These systems are deployed on VMware ESXi clusters on premise in datacenters at our facilities. This model is moving towards a micro service architecture using containers on Kubernetes (K8) using .NET Core with UI in Blazer and database in PostgreSQL on VMware Tanzu. The Position The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of skills to allow for the configuration and deployment of Level 2 systems. These level 2 systems are either to support new machines or upgrade legacy systems. This individual should be able to interact with the local plant teams to gather the information and the requirements to configure test and deploy level 2 systems. This individual will be responsible for testing the system and going to code when necessary to identify issues. An ideal candidate would be able to make minor changes to the application code of these systems and point out decencies in the existing code sets to ensure code quality. The individuals should have the skills necessary to troubleshoot and repair scripts that run for installation and data conversion. The individual should be able to handle the necessary modifications to correct SQL data conversion scripts. The individual must be able to train and communicate the application responsible how the application works. This individual must be able to support and find issues after the application has been running in production. Required Minimum Skills Strong reasoning and critical thinking ability The ability to troubleshoot problems without the need for Google Computer science background (Computer Science degree or ability to demonstrate equivalent understanding of concepts including data structures, algorithm, object-oriented programming) Basic understanding of computer hardware and networks Knowledge of the windows operating system at least for basic system Exposure to at least one object-oriented programing language Knowledge of Relation Databases concepts and basics concepts An ideal candidate will possess the following: Systems Administration Window Server (2008-2019) o Registry o Active Directory o IIS o PowerShell Understanding of virtualization environments Linux administration VMware ESXi cluster experience a plus Network Network fundamentals Network + or equivalent knowledge(OSI, Ethernet, TCP/IP, basic network components) Network troubleshooting Understanding of Ethernet networks and components including VLANS, hubs, switches etc Understanding of firewalls Understanding of network communication protocols including HTTP|HTTPS|ARP|DNS|DHCP Concept Data structures XML/JSON Understanding of WEB APIs, Web Services, RESTful API IBM MQ,KAFKA, Avro Schemas Database Knowledge of basic querying Oracle or PostgreSQL experience a plus Oracle Recovery Manager - RMAN Development Familiarity with C# Familiarity with .Net Framework .Net Core, WPF or Blazer experience a plus Go, RUST, PHP experience a plus Version Control git or TFS Other valued relevant experience Service Now JIRA PowerBI Exposure to PLCs Knowledge of PLC,OPC, OPC UA, RSLinx, Kepware, OAS OPC systems, OSIsoft PI Microsoft SQL / Failover clusters OpenVMS, what is HPUX, DECNET Understanding of CI/CD Deployment Specialist Travel Requirements: - Up to 30% over a 12-month period - Can vary if the travel is spread out evenly over the year or if it will be more towards the beginning/end - Maximum 5-6 trips per year - Up to 2 international trips maximum (France, Brazil, Canada, Mexico), the rest is domestic - Some are day trips (to Columbia for example). You can stay or commute - 60% are 1-week trips - 20% to 30% are 2-week trips - 10% are 3-week trips (try not to do many trips this long) - Occasional emergency travel (corporate jet) once per year, if at all. Vast majority of travel is given a 3 to 8-month notice.
