Job Title: Database Administrator Location: On-site (Tallahassee, FL) Need local only Duration: 6+ month contract Interview: Phone and Video Rate: $45/hr C2C Max Visa: No H1B/TN LinkedIn with pic 2 managerial references Job Description: Overview for Database Analyst The Contractor Personnel will be responsible for implementing the Florida PALM statewide accounting system at the Department under the direction of the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and the Office of Strategic Planning. Description of services associated with this project include, but are not limited to, the following: - Implementing the Florida PALM statewide accounting system for the Department. - Conducting a comprehensive assessment of the organization's existing systems and how they interact with FLAIR. - Collaborating with stakeholders to identify and document functional and technical requirements for the new enterprise financial system. - Performing data analysis to identify data migration requirements. - Ensuring data integrity. - Refactoring and/or migrating existing databases, as needed, to integrate seamlessly with the new financial system. - Designing and implementing API integrations to facilitate data exchange between the new financial system and other systems, which may include the development of data warehouses. - Configuring and customizing existing systems to meet the organization's specific needs and requirements. - Developing data reports and analytical dashboards. - Developing and delivering training programs for end-users to ensure a smooth transition to the new financial system. - Conducting comprehensive testing and quality assurance activities to ensure system functionality and data accuracy. - Providing post-implementation support and troubleshooting to address any issues or concerns that may arise. - Performing other duties as required. Database Analyst Job Description This is data processing technical work: 1) planning, designing, and enhancing a statewide, wide area, or comparable distributed computer systems network for use by end-users including the hardware, software, and communications components of distributed systems; and 2) designing, coding, testing, and documenting applications software. Key Areas of Responsibility - Designs, models, develops, and supports database management systems. - Analyzes data requirements, application and processing architectures, data dictionaries, and database schema(s), and then designs, develops, amends, optimizes, and certifies database schema design to meet system(s) requirements. - Gathers, analyzes, and normalizes relevant information related to, and from business processes, functions, and operations to evaluate data credibility and determine relevance and meaning. - Develops database and warehousing designs across multiple platforms and computing environments. - Develops an overall data architecture that supports the information needs of the business in a flexible but secure environment. - Conducts comprehensive data analysis to understand the structure, content, and relationships of the existing FLAIR system and the various departmental systems that interact with it. - Gathers requirements from stakeholders to identify the specific integration needs and desired functionality for the PALM system. - Collaborates with the project team, including developers, project managers, and business analysts, to define integration strategies and technical solutions. - Develop data migration plans and strategies to ensure a seamless transition from FLAIR to Florida PALM. - Integrates departmental systems with the Florida PALM system and other relevant systems and data warehouses. - Writes data reports and creates documentation to capture system configurations, integration processes, and data mapping. - Conducts thorough testing to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and performance of the integrated system. - Provides technical support and troubleshooting during the onboarding and integration process. - Collaborates with cross-functional teams to address any issues or challenges encountered during the integration process. - Assesses future information requirements to develop long range comprehensive database plans. - Establishes database policies and procedures. - Evaluates user's request for new data elements and systems and incorporate into the existing shared data environment. - Coordinates use of the organization's data to ensure data integrity and control redundancy. - Develops database feasibility studies and cost/benefit analyses. - Establishes database design techniques using data modeling and prototyping software. - Analyzes and proposes changes to database structures. - Maintains data dictionary ensuring uniformity of definitions and setting standards for use of data dictionary. - Determines necessary database security. - Assists in selection of database management software. - Educates management in the need for long-range data planning and management of the data resource. - Develops and controls the procedures necessary to save, retrieve, and recover databases for hardware and/or software failure. - Coordinates reorganizations with the applications and systems staff. - Acts as consultant to both the applications and systems programming staff on all aspects of database and/or on-line management software standards. - Performs related work as required. Preferred Qualifications and Experience A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in management information systems or in one of the computer sciences and three (3) years of experience in Database Administration, DBMS design and support or relevant computing environments. - The Database Analyst must have knowledge and experience in the following areas related to database languages and integration: a. Database Management Systems (DBMS): Familiarity with popular DBMS platforms such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL. Understanding the concepts of data modeling, table structures, and query optimization. b. Structured Query Language (SQL): Proficiency in SQL, including writing complex queries, optimizing database performance, and manipulating data using SQL statements. Understanding of joins, subqueries, and indexing. c. Data Integration Tools and Techniques: Knowledge of data integration methods and tools, such as ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, data migration strategies, and data synchronization techniques. Familiarity with tools like Informatica, Talend, or SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services). d. API Integration: Understanding of API (Application Programming Interface) concepts and experience with integrating systems using APIs. Knowledge of RESTful APIs, SOAP, or other web service protocols. Ability to work with API documentation and make API calls for data retrieval or data synchronization purposes. e. Data Mapping and Transformation: Proficiency in data mapping techniques to align data structures and fields between different systems. Experience in data transformation processes to convert data formats, standardize data, or cleanse data during integration. f. Data Warehousing Concepts: Understanding of data warehousing principles and practices. Knowledge of dimensional modeling, ETL processes for data warehouse loading, and data mart design. Familiarity with tools like Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics. g. Data Governance and Data Quality: Awareness of data governance principles, including data standards, data quality rules, and data lineage. Understanding the importance of data integrity, data validation, and data cleansing techniques during integration. h. Database Performance Optimization: Knowledge of techniques for optimizing database performance, including query optimization, indexing strategies, and database tuning. Ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in integrated systems. i. Data Security and Privacy: Understanding of data security principles and best practices, including data encryption, access controls, and data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). Knowledge of secure data handling during integration processes. j. Data Analysis and Reporting: Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques to extract insights from integrated datasets. Experience in creating reports, dashboards, or visualizations to present integrated data to stakeholders.
