The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in creating custom RPMs, managing YUM repositories, and providing technical guidance on automation tools, particularly Chef. The Sr. Architect will also play a crucial role in developing standard operating environments (SOE) and will be involved in configuring, analyzing, and troubleshooting RHEL systems. Qualifications: Experience: Proven experience with RHEL 9, including migration and package management. Technical Skills: o Strong understanding of RPMs and YUM repositories. o Familiarity with Chef automation and its integration with RHEL 9. o Expertise in OS configuration, including kernel parameters and network architecture. o Experience in creating virtual machine and cloud templates. Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex RHEL issues and performance challenges effectively. Communication: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide clear guidance. Key Responsibilities: Migration Support: Assist with the migration from Ubuntu to RHEL 9, including the transition from Deb packages to RPMs. Custom RPM Development: Help build and maintain custom RPMs, including setting up and syncing YUM repositories in the environment. Workflow Development: Create and analyze workflows for reporting kernel crashes to Red Hat support. Automation Guidance: Provide guidance on the current Chef automation to ensure compatibility with RHEL 9. Standard Operating Environment: Build or health check the Standard Operating Environment (SOE) for x86-64 platforms. RHEL Gold Image Creation: Create or analyze RHEL gold image standards for the environment. Configuration and Management: Review and configure OS settings, startup services, network architecture, attached storage architecture, and patch management. Troubleshooting: Assist in troubleshooting RHEL and performance issues, along with improvements to image creation processes.
