Job/Project Description Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks has over 70 internally developed JAVA based applications on our public facing and internal websites, such as MyFWP, the Wildlife Information System (WIS), and the Fisheries Information System (FIS). There is a backlog of production support and enhancement requests for these systems. FWP also has a large queue of pending new project requests. FWPs core business system is our Automated Licensing System (ALS). ALS was developed in the late 1990s and is progressing through an incremental modernization. This system tracks all the agencys license sales and revenue. FWPs software developers have been tasked with ensuring this system remains viable until it is replaced. Application owners are prioritizing the requests for existing systems and FWPs Deputy Director aligns new project requests with our agencys strategic plan and works through the prioritization process. Work accomplished through this project will help ensure continued viability of FWPs applications. Scope of Work The scope of this project includes enhancements to existing applications, or new development of applications. Work may include user interfaces, database design/modification, batch jobs, reports, queries, or other such technical work as is necessary to accomplish a functional component. The following list is in an initial priority order. However, priorities will be assessed regularly, per use of an Agile development methodology, which will line out specific deliverables for each period throughout the term of this contract. This approach will help ensure the highest priority/highest value work is accomplished first. Requirements Specifications and requirements described in the Project Specific Job Description. Developer should be fluent in Oracle SQL and experienced in PL/SQL and conventional SQL Developer is fluent in Java and experienced with object-oriented programming principles Developer has strong front-end web development skills. They should have passing to fluent knowledge of Jakarta Server Pages, html5, css, javaScript, and jQuery. Developer is familiar with working in Model-View-Controller application frameworks. Experience with Struts is a huge plus Developer has experience designing full-stack, complex, modular systems Developer should have experience with JobSchedular Developer with previous experience with the FWP stack would be preferred Developer should have a passing understanding of how to write code using networking technology (HTTP/S, SSL, etc) Developer has extensive experience with API management and development Developer has experience with mobile programming and is competent doing native iOS and Android development work in Swift and Kotlin respectively WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Requirements: Candidates that do not meet or exceed the minimum stated requirements (skills/experience) will be displayed to customers but may not be chosen for this opportunity.
