Title: SQL Database Administrator (SQL DBA) with Azure Location: Atlanta, GA Employment Type: Contract Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in both Microsoft SQL Server and Azure cloud environments. This role involves managing SQL Server databases, both on-premises and in the cloud, ensuring high availability, security, and optimal performance. The ideal candidate will have strong database management skills, with specific experience in Azure SQL Database, Azure Managed Instances, and cloud-based database services. Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases (both on-premises and in Azure cloud environments). Manage and monitor Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instances, and Azure Data Factory. Implement and maintain cloud migration strategies for moving on-premises SQL databases to Azure. Monitor database performance and ensure efficient resource usage in both on-premise and Azure environments. Ensure high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions such as AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Log Shipping, and Failover Clustering across on-prem and cloud infrastructure. Develop and implement automated processes for database management using Azure Automation or PowerShell. Administer security protocols, including role-based access control (RBAC) and encryption within Azure environments. Perform regular backups and ensure disaster recovery plans are in place, both on-premises and in Azure. Troubleshoot database issues, manage incidents, and implement proactive solutions. Work with the development team to optimize T-SQL queries, indexes, and stored procedures. Maintain and ensure the availability of database resources across Azure cloud services, including Azure Storage, Azure Networking, and virtual machines (VMs). Required Skills & Qualifications: 3-5+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Database Administrator. Proficiency in SQL Server 2016/2019 and later versions. Expertise with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instances, and Azure Data Factory. Solid understanding of cloud architecture and experience migrating databases from on-prem to cloud-based environments. Experience with T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS. Knowledge of database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting in both on-prem and Azure environments. Hands-on experience with Azure services, such as Azure Backup, Azure Monitor, Azure Storage, and Azure Networking. Understanding of PowerShell scripting for automating database tasks in both on-prem and cloud environments. Strong experience with Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) and security management within cloud databases. Experience with high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) configurations in cloud-based solutions.
