Kafka Architect Duration: Long Term Orlando, FL Job Description: Responsibilities: Design and architect Kafka-based solutions to support scalable, high-performance data processing systems. Lead the development and deployment of Kafka clusters, including setup, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance. Collaborate with engineering, data science, and operations teams to understand requirements and translate them into Kafka-based solutions. Develop and maintain best practices for Kafka deployment, management, and data streaming. Design data models and implement data streaming pipelines to handle real-time data processing. Optimize Kafka infrastructure for performance, scalability, and reliability. Implement security measures to ensure data integrity and secure access to Kafka clusters. Troubleshoot and resolve Kafka-related issues, including performance tuning and failure recovery. Monitor Kafka clusters, set up alerting mechanisms, and ensure high availability. Stay updated with the latest Kafka features and enhancements, and drive the adoption of new capabilities. Mentor and guide junior engineers and developers in Kafka best practices and architecture. Qualifications: Proven experience in architecting and implementing large-scale Kafka environments. Strong understanding of Kafka components such as brokers, topics, partitions, producers, consumers, and Kafka Connect. Experience with Kafka Streams, KSQL, and Kafka Connect for building stream processing applications. Familiarity with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven architectures. Proficient in programming languages such as Java, Scala, or Python. Experience with data modeling, data pipeline development, and ETL processes. Strong understanding of network protocols, security, and encryption as it relates to Kafka. Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or similar for Kafka. Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes is a plus. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Preferred Certifications: Confluent Certified Developer for Apache Kafka Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) if dealing with containerized environments Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering or a similar role, with at least 2 years focused on Kafka.
