| Title: Senior Network Engineer Visa: USC, GC,H4-EAD,GC-EAD Location: Chaska, MN(Hybrid, Need Local or Nearby) End Client: Optum (ISPs) and CDNs Project description We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Network Engineer specializing in internet routing to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an expert in designing, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting large-scale, complex network infrastructures, with a deep understanding of IP routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and others. Internet Architecture Knowledge: Solid understanding of internet architecture, including internet exchange points (IXPs) and transit networks - is absolutely required for this position. Whoever fills this role will be working primarily on our internet edge which involves working with various carriers, transit networks, internet exchange points and DDoS protection. People who have worked for Internet Service Providers, Cloud Service Providers, Colocation Providers, etc are the ideal candidates. Looking for someone local to the Minnesota (Chaska) area as we would like to have local hands at our data centers - within 30-45 minutes of travell at most). Someone local may need to go to one of our offices to stage equipment for projects or just be hands for us. Responsibilities Designing and Implementing Network Infrastructure: Developing and implementing the architecture for internet routing within an organization. This includes designing the layout of routers, switches, and other networking equipment to ensure efficient and secure data flow. Network Optimization and Scaling: Continuously analyzing network performance and making adjustments to optimize efficiency and reliability. This involves scaling the network to handle increased traffic and implementing new technologies as needed. Routing Protocol Management: Configuring and managing routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, or MPLS. This includes setting up routing policies, route redistribution, and ensuring that network routes are efficient and secure. Technical Documentation and Network Diagrams: Responsible for authoring comprehensive technical documentation, including detailed network diagrams, system configurations, and procedural guides. This involves effectively communicating complex network designs and configurations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and accuracy for future reference and team collaboration. Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Identifying and resolving complex network issues, including those related to internet routing. This requires in-depth knowledge of network diagnostics and advanced troubleshooting techniques. Disaster Recovery and Redundancy Planning: Developing and implementing strategies for network redundancy and disaster recovery to ensure network uptime and reliability, even in the event of hardware failures or other disruptions. Mentorship and Team Leadership: Leading and mentoring junior network engineers and other technical staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development. Staying Informed of Technological Advances: Keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in network technology and internet routing. This includes understanding emerging technologies and how they might be leveraged to improve network performance and security. Skills Must have Experience: Minimum of 10 years in network engineering, with a strong focus on internet routing. Internet Architecture Knowledge: Solid understanding of internet architecture, including internet exchange points (IXPs) and transit networks. Network Redundancy and Disaster Recovery: Familiarity with network redundancy, failover mechanisms, and disaster recovery practices specific to internet routing. Network Security: Experience with network security practices in internet routing, including DDoS mitigation, IP filtering, and secure routing protocols Independence and Communication: Capable of working with minimal guidance on complex tasks and excellent communication skills for effective interaction with leadership, peers, project managers, clients, and stakeholders.
