Active DOE or DOD Security Clearance is required. Location: Oak Ridge, TN Onsite Senior Network Engineer to support a high-profile Department of Energy (DOE) contract in Albuquerque, NM. We are looking for a self-driven, results-oriented network professional who will play a key role in deploying, troubleshooting, and maintaining cutting-edge network infrastructure. Key Responsibilities: Deploy and support Cisco routers and Catalyst switches, handling tier 2/3 troubleshooting and developing SOPs for network tasks. Manage and operate Cisco and Palo Alto devices, ensuring changes are well-documented with updated engineering documents and IP addressing. Operate in a remote, lights-out environment using OOB management and serial consoles for circuit troubleshooting. Develop and improve current network operating procedures and documentation. Draft configuration change proposals for the Change Control Board (CCB). Maintain network topology diagrams and related documentation for various office locations and network enclaves. Perform network performance testing using open-source software. Troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues involving switches, routers, desktops, and servers. Review log events and use network management applications for fault detection and reporting. Provide support during planned/unplanned maintenance, sometimes requiring nights, weekends, or holidays. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience supporting Gigabit Ethernet LAN networks with knowledge of STP, VTP, 802.1q Trunking, LACP, Etherchannel, and NAC. Experience with Cisco VOIP configuration and strong understanding of the TCP/IP stack. Knowledge of LAN, WAN, and wireless networks and application transport protocols (DNS, DHCP, WINS, SSL/TLS, FTP, CIFS, LDAP, etc.). Experience with Python or Ansible for network scripting is a plus. Hands-on experience with Cisco devices (Catalyst switches, ASR/ISR routers, ASA with Firepower, Palo Alto series). Knowledge of BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, and other networking protocols. Experience with packet analysis tools such as Wireshark or TCP-Dump. Active DOE or DOD Security Clearance is required.
