Mention your consultant visa status also Mainframe z/VM System Admin Remote What are the top 3 skills required for this role 1.z/VM System programming 2.z/Linux Support 3.Velocity product support Job Description/ Responsibilities Excellent understanding of System z architecture Excellent experience with zVM Experience in building Mainframe LPAR and OS Upgrades Knowledge Catalog management, IBM system utilities Knowledge on VTAM, TCPIP, ACF2 and GDPS Experience on z/VM and z/Linux Installation of patches and fixes Installation and maintenance of ISV products, REXX, RMF, SMF Administration and configuration of z/VM Operating Systems running SuSE or RedHat Linux Installation and customization of z/VM and related IBM or other ISV software; Extensive experience with providing performance and tuning using monitoring tools (f. ex. z/VM Performance Monitor or other tools); DIRMAINT administration RACF/Top secret administration; REXX knowledge - SSI knowledge; Ability to support network configuration and maintenance (Real TCP/IP stack, VSWITCH, TCPIP tools in z/VM, etc.); Solid skills in z/Linux system cloning and configuration including memory and file system allocation; System parameters/parmlib maintenance Managing incidents on z/VM related issues z/OS performance monitoring and reporting Capable of planning and supporting Disaster recovery exercises Performance tuning & Development of operational procedures Experience with system indicators (logs, dumps, error) logs for pro-active management of system problems Installation and maintenance of ISV products (For zVM) Ability to work with Developers in fixing issues Extremely familiar with IBM z/VM Upgrade Experience in Coordinating with Vendor to complete the upgrades Knowledge z/VM MF configuration and setup Planning, installation, customization of z/Linux and guest operating system Ability to perform dump and restore of system data. Responsible for tolerating PTF maintenance for ISV products Resource management on z/VM guest operating system Linux instance Hands-on experience on installation of RedHat enterprise Linux RHEL installation. Configuration and customization of virtual servers, Page & Spool management Access management - onboarding and access provisioning Security administration and access provisioning on VM and z-Linux environment controlling, reporting, reviewing access violations. Creating and Implementing z/VM and Linux-related security plans for Audit readiness Troubleshooting performance issues, capturing and sending dump to Vendor and Required network administrative tasks managing network device. Key Responsibilities: Incident Management / Problem Management by performing problem analysis and resolution implementation Support maintenance release and major OS upgrades. Process client requests for system software modifications Review system indicators (logs, dumps, error) logs for pro-active management of system problems Work with operations to monitor, maintain and IPL systems to improve consistency and availability Monitor / Tune system performance and work with performance engineering and capacity teams Ensure availability and performance objectives, as required by clients and management, are maintained for operating systems and for system software components Implement appropriate tools and processes to automate repeated tasks Manage various license codes for infrastructure software. Capable of planning and supporting Disaster recovery exercises Performance tuning & Development of operational procedures Implement changes as needed to support other towers and day-to-day operations.
