Junior Mainframe COBOL Developer (Entry-Level) - Operational Support, Experience Level: Entry-Level (0-2 years) Note : They Already shared more senior candidate to client but client looking someone who having 2 years of experience candidate . Job Summary: We are seeking an enthusiastic Software Developer to join our team, focusing on operational support. In this role, you will work on researching user issues and implementing quick coding changes, primarily in a mainframe environment. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates beginning their careers to gain hands-on experience, work closely with seasoned team members, and bring fresh perspectives to our processes. Although the system is mainly coded in COBOL, we provide mentoring, but no formal COBOL training will be offered. Candidates should be prepared to self-learn COBOL if they do not have prior experience. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, test, and debug software for business, scientific, and technical systems. Collaborate with users to define system requirements and scope for new or modified applications. Provide analytical and technical support throughout the software development lifecycle, from conceptualization to implementation. Perform software hazard analysis using various tools and ensure safety standards are met. Review systems and software to ensure compliance with government or industry standards and guidelines. Lead small projects, providing instruction, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress of other developers. Use coding languages, content creation, and management tools to design and maintain software applications. Troubleshoot and resolve issues identified through testing or user feedback, ensuring code meets industry standards and is compatible with various devices and systems. Skills & Qualifications: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Problem-solving ability and customer service orientation. Basic independent work and time management skills. Mainframe COBOL/JCL experience or training is required. Mainframe CICS experience or training is required. Familiarity with Agile environments and DevOps/GitHub is a plus. Experience with Java is a plus. Strong problem resolution, debugging, and research skills. Ability to meet tight deadlines and work independently. Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training required. 0-2 years of experience required. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with COBOL, JCL, and CICS, either through coursework or hands-on experience.
