This role will be expected to collaborate with the Data Office, Business, IT and other stakeholders and play an active role in the Data Quality Enhancement initiative. The individual is expected to be a self-starter who is comfortable prioritizing and effectively managing their daily workload. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with overall Power BI/SQL Support (development, performance, process, documentation) related to the Data Quality Enhancement initiative and other development efforts as needed. Activities include: Maintain the confidentiality of all business data and adhere to VRS data security policies. Meet all deliverables withing the agreed upon timeframe. Provide regular status updates and attend various meetings as required. Develop, design, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards based on business requirements. Create interactive visualizations, reports, dashboards that assist with effective monitoring of Critical Data Elements. Advise on best practices in data visualization and report optimization. Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate into actionable reports. Develop, optimize and maintain SQL queries and stored procedures for data retrieval and manipulation. Develop DAX queries to enhance the performance and functionality of reports. Develop reports to support KPIs and other performance indicators. Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI and SQL tools. Review existing SQL Queries, Execution Plans, Partitions, and Index(s) to determine performance enhancements for long running queries. Provide alternative options to existing data manipulation techniques. Examples would be converting Excel manipulation activities into solutions that reduce process/cycle time of data preparation. Special projects at the direction of the Chief Operating Officer or Data Officer. Education and/or Experience Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university preferred and 5+ years experience with technology or data organizations required. This will be a contract position starting with a period of at least 6 months. To be effective, this resource would need to be available within the next 6 weeks. VRS desires to interview proposed individuals before final approval. Required Skills: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in developing reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Power BI 5 Years Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in SQL Server SQL development, including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning. 5 Years Experience in writing complex DAX queries. 3 Years Experience with MS SQL Server data modelling and schema design. 5 Years Experience working in an Agile development environment. 3 Years Ability to work independently and as part of a team that includes business and technical stakeholders. 5 Years Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. 5 Years Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 5 Years One or more of the following Experience in Pensions Benefit Management programs 2 Years Experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, QlikView) 2 Years Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R. 2 Years Nice to Have: Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS). 2 Years Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or equivalent 1 Years Other relevant certifications in SQL, Data Analysis and database management 1 Years Keywords: business intelligence rlang information technology wtwo microsoft Virginia Power BI SQL Developers- Hybrid [email protected] |
