Job Description - Network Engineer Location: Memphis, TN (Hybrid) Local only with DL Duration: 12+ Months Visa: NO USC/GC/H1B MOI: Skype Note: Candidate will need to meet me in my office prior to being submitted * Candidates MUST BE local to the general Memphis area (Southaven & Olive Branch are fine) -- no exceptions, so no need to spend time on anyone not currently living here. * Candidates MUST HAVE their own transportation to drive between MLGW sites, and be available to work onsite M-F; they just work onsite 3 days/week (remote the other 2 days/week), but the specific onsite days change from week-to-week depending on installations, etc. they're working on, so candidates must be able to work onsite any 3 days that are needed. * Candidates MUST HAVE current/very recent experience with the skills needed, actively using the skills in most recent jobs (not from 4-5 years ago). * Candidates MUST HAVE very strong verbal communications, with clear understanding of directions being given to them. Top 5 Skills Required (MUST HAVE CURRENT/VERY RECENT EXPERIENCE) -- in order of importance with day-to-day job responsibilities: 1. 2+ years of recent hands-on experience with configuration & troubleshooting of network hardware (not looking for someone who just works off templates). 2. 5+ years of recent hands-on experience with enterprise-level Cisco routers & switches. 3. 5+ years of recent hands-on experience with TCP/IP and WAN/LAN technologies. 4. 5+ years of recent hands-on experience with static & dynamic routing technologies. 5. 3+ years of recent hands-on experience with stateful inspection firewall technologies including deploying and supporting site-to-site (IPsec) VPN tunnels. Work Scope: The scope of the position is to ensure the secure operation of the in-house computer systems, servers, data, and network connections. This includes the development, implementation, and troubleshooting of Layer 2 and Layer 3 devices, as well as maintaining the infrastructure from architecture, design, and documentation through deployment and maintenance. communicate with other departments and organizations to ensure configuration effectiveness, accuracy, and efficiency. Ensure that the site network is reliable and that performance exceeds service levels. Other responsibilities will be vulnerability assessment, and the analysis of security breaches. Job Skilll 1. Experience with working in multiple computer operating systems and telecommunication environments. 2. 5+ years of extensive experience with TCP/IP and WAN/LAN technologies. 3. 5+ years of extensive experience with static and dynamic routing technologies. 4. 5+ years of extensive knowledge of enterprise level Cisco routers and switches. 5. 5+ years of extensive knowledge of enterprise level Cisco Wireless solutions. 6. 3+ years of extensive experience developing processes and documentation to comply with national data security standards. 7. 3+ years of experience with stateful inspection firewall technologies including deploying and supporting site-to-site (IPsec) VPN tunnels. 8. 3+ years of experience with Intruder Detection/Prevention Systems. 9. 3+ years of experience with Bluecoat Proxy devices, if possible. 10. 2+ years of experience with Palo Alto devices. 11. 2+ years of recent hands-on experience with configuration and troubleshooting of network hardware -- not looking for someone who just works off templates. 12. Fundamental knowledge of DNS, remote access solutions, application programming, and directory services. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Apply principles/concepts to most complex/diversified engineering, business and technical system design projects; act as project leader; extremely accountable for end results. 2. Configure and monitor LAN/WAN infrastructure activity and performance for identifying potential security, speed, and performance utilizing LAN/WAN, QoS, VLAN, IOS, Netflow and SNMP. 3. Configure, monitor and proactively support wireless connectivity and associated infrastructure such as controllers, authentication, and guest access servers. 4. Utilize available network troubleshooting tools, including network packet captures, monitoring devices, log files, and customer input in order to facilitate effective issues resolution. 5. Be fluent in hands-on configuration and troubleshooting of network hardware and software appliances. 6. Be fluent in the areas of access control, cryptography, intrusion detection/prevention; secure application development, security system design, operations security, business continuity and disaster recovery planning, as well as physical security. 7. Plan, formulate and implement conversion procedures; determine system hardware requirements; make feasibility studies and recommend most optimal system goals/economies. 8. Prepare/maintain full system documentation; analyze electronic threats, breaches, risks, and ensure safe computing practices. 9. Review/evaluate existing programs and procedures to ensure proper controls, security measures, redundancy, goals and economies have been obtained. 10. Perform other duties as directed. Certifications: The following certifications will be a primary consideration of employment. 1. Network: CCNA, CCNP (Routing/Switching, Wireless) 2. Security: Security+, CCSP, CCNA, CCNP (Security) Education: Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related study fields is desirable to be a primary consideration of full employment.
