The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2) and will work closely with the development and business teams to ensure smooth operation, maintenance, and enhancement of existing mainframe applications. This role requires a deep understanding of the retail industrys specific needs, including inventory management, supply chain, point-of-sale systems, and customer data management. Key Responsibilities Design, Develop, and Maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and other relevant mainframe technologies. Enhance Legacy Applications by adding new functionalities based on retail client requirements. Data Integration and Migration : Work on data integration tasks to integrate mainframe data with other systems, supporting retail applications and enhancing data-driven decision-making. Performance Optimization : Troubleshoot performance issues, perform debugging, and optimize mainframe programs to improve system efficiency. Testing and Quality Assurance : Conduct unit testing, system testing, and support user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure high-quality application delivery. Documentation and Compliance : Create and maintain technical documentation, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations. Client and Stakeholder Collaboration : Act as a liaison between technical and business teams to ensure accurate interpretation of requirements and delivery of effective solutions. Support and Troubleshooting : Provide L2/L3 support, diagnose and resolve system issues, and ensure minimal disruption to retail operations, particularly during peak business hours. Required Skills and Qualifications Technical Skills : Strong expertise in COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, and Rexx programming languages. Familiarity with Assembler programming and z/OS Operating System. Knowledge of TSO/ISPF, CA7 Job Scheduler, and MQ series is a plus. Experience with tools such as File-AID, Endevor, SPUFI, and DB2 Utilities. Domain Knowledge : Solid understanding of the retail industry and knowledge of inventory management, supply chain logistics, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and customer data handling. Experience : 5+ years of experience as a Mainframe Developer, preferably in a retail domain. Hands-on experience with application migration, data integration, and system enhancements. Education : Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Preferred Qualifications Certifications : Relevant certifications such as IBM Z Mainframe or DB2 certifications. Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies. Data Management Skills : Exposure to data warehousing and ETL tools. Familiarity with Modernization Tools : Knowledge of tools or processes that support mainframe modernization, cloud integration, or API enablement.
