This role includes customizing installation jobs, facilitating code promotions, and administering automated scheduling systems, alongside managing incident notifications and scheduling conflicts. Key Responsibilities: Application Monitoring and Recovery: Monitor end-user job submissions and intervene for recovery and restart as needed. Execute resolution and restart procedures for failed batch jobs or online utilities. Job Customization and Scheduling: Customize installation jobs/scripts based on requirements. Schedule batch jobs on request, ensuring timely execution and conflict resolution. Monitor and report on scheduling cycles, including daily reports of conflicts. Code Promotion: Perform and support code promotions across various environments (development, test, production). Maintain and update code promotion standards and operational requirements. Automated Scheduling System: Provide, administer, and maintain an automated scheduling system. Identify and document critical paths, and organize jobs eligible for parallel processing. Documentation and Procedures: Develop and maintain operational documentation, including acceptance criteria and procedures for code movement. Maintain a job scheduling database to track job completion results and interdependencies. Incident and Delay Notifications: Notify appropriate support teams of incidents and delays per established procedures. Quality Control and Performance Improvement: Provide quality control for reprocessing activities. Analyze performance metrics and resource usage to recommend improvements. Third-Party Application Support: Install, maintain, and upgrade third-party provider applications. Competencies: Application Re-engineering NonStop System Configuration Production Control and Scheduling Performance and Capacity Management Experience: 8-10 years in system administration, particularly with Tandem applications. Essential Skills: Strong experience with Tandem application environments. Desirable Skills: Operations management, performance and capacity management, database services, and administration. Experience in backups and restore management, as well as technical support. This role is vital in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of application operations, with a strong emphasis on proactive monitoring, quick resolution of issues, and continual performance improvement.
