Title : Linux Engineer- 15+year-NO H1B Location: Miami FL Duration: Long Term/contract VISA: NO Sponsorship Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Linux Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Linux operating systems and extensive knowledge of scripting languages. This role requires a proactive individual who can troubleshoot complex issues, optimize systems, and automate processes to enhance efficiency and reliability. Key Responsibilities System Administration: Maintain and administer Linux/AIX -based servers, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. Scripting and Automation: Develop and maintain scripts for automating routine tasks, system monitoring, patching, and deployment processes using languages such as Bash, Python, and Perl. Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, providing technical support to internal teams and clients. Performance Tuning: Optimize system performance by monitoring and analyzing system metrics, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing improvements. Security Management: Implement and maintain security best practices, including regular updates, patch management, and vulnerability assessments. Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures. Collaboration: Work closely with development, network, database, storage, and security teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of systems. Disaster Recovery: Maintain current UNIX team based documentation, participate in yearly DR testing documenting gaps, implement remediation in documentation for observed gaps. Storage Management: Understanding and Administration of UNIX OS layer; LVM, SAN based LUNs, Hypervisor based Datastores, and Software-Defined Storage. Required Qualifications Educational Background: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration and scripting. Technical Skills: o Proficiency in managing Linux systems (Red Hat, AIX, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.). o Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, and Perl. o Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef). o Knowledge of networking protocols and services (DNS, DHCP, NFS, FTP, SSH, etc.). o Understanding of virtualization technologies (Nutanix, VMware, KVM, Docker). o Familiarity with cloud platforms (predominantly Azure,). o Experience with version control systems (Git). o Experience with automated patching utilizing Red Hat Satellite server. o Experience with HMC/AIX/LPAR virtualization management and AIX OS updates. Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and efficiency. Mentor Junior UNIX teammates Preferred Qualifications Certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) or LPIC (Linux Professional Institute Certification). Experience with container orchestration tools (Kubernetes). Knowledge of database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL). Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
