Position: Database Administrator (DBA) with experience with SQL Server, Oracle and Azure SQL Location: Cary, NC Summary: We are seeking an experienced Azure SQL and SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with extensive knowledge and experience in SQL Server administration in Microsoft Azure and on-premises environments to join our IT team who also has experience with Oracle. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database management, with specialized experience in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting databases. Must have experience with two-way data synchronization between Azure SQL and on-premises or other cloud-based SQL databases. This role is critical to ensure high availability, data consistency, and optimal performance for mission-critical applications. The candidate should also possess T-SQL development skill to maintain and optimize SSIS ETL processes, and SQL scripts for enhancing and automating security lockdown process. The candidate should understand IT and software development life cycle processes to provide support in the Microsoft Azure Government. Key Responsibilities: Database Administration: Administer, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Azure SQL and on-premises Oracle/SQL Server databases. Ensure optimal database performance, reliability, and security by following best practices for database maintenance and security. Optimize Microsoft for ETL, Data visualization, and Business Intelligence data analysis Data Synchronization: Design, implement, and manage two-way synchronization solutions for Azure SQL and other SQL databases to ensure accurate and timely data replication. Handle data migration and synchronization tasks, ensuring minimal downtime and data consistency across environments. Develop and optimize T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, and triggers to facilitate synchronization processes. Performance Tuning and Optimization: Analyze and resolve complex performance issues, utilizing diagnostic tools and database optimization techniques. Conduct index management, query optimization, and schema tuning for enhanced performance. Backup and Recovery: Develop, implement, and maintain robust backup and recovery procedures. Conduct regular testing of disaster recovery plans to ensure continuity of operations. Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain database security controls, including role-based access, encryption, and data masking. Ensure compliance with industry standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, or other applicable regulations. Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with development and DevOps teams to support database-related aspects of application deployment and maintenance. Document synchronization processes, backup and recovery plans, and security policies. Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of experience as a SQL Database Administrator, with strong expertise in Azure SQL and Oracle. A minimum of three (3) years of experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). A minimum of five (5) years of experience with the planning and implementation of MS SQL database disaster recovery for enterprise level application Proven experience with two-way database synchronization tools and methodologies. Proficiency in T-SQL and familiarity with SQL Server Agent, Azure Data Sync, or similar tools for synchronization. Strong understanding of database security, backup, and recovery processes. Knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps, or other ETL tools is a plus. Preferred Qualifications: Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert. Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD, or similar tools for database release automation. Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills with strong analytical abilities. Good communication and teamwork skills.
