The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT)Information Technology Division (ITD) is seeking a Network architect to join the VDOT Enterprise Architecture team. This individual will work with key members focusing on strategic planning, design, and the long-term vision,ensuring network solution align with the organization. All computer networks need to be configured in such a way that all end users can securely and efficiently access the applications, data, and tools, this also involves implementing the network to meet rigorous security standards alongside installing and configuring hardware elements. Candidates must be able to provide documentation throughout the design and deployment process as a reference for future network enhancements or maintenance. Provide overall technology guidance, road maps, principles, standards, and best practices around networking Responsibilities Document comprehensive network designs that integratemultiple network technologies, such as LANs, WANs, wireless networks, and VPNs,to support the organizations business operations and communication needs. Design and document the entire network implementationprocess Monitoring network performance and taking follow-up steps to resolve latency issues and security concerns Performing regular network upgrades to create greater efficiency Creating documentation throughout the design and deployment process for future reference Develop patterns and standards for all network designs The ability to analyze data traffic and system performanceto determine future upgrades. Work with our IT staff and thirds-party equipment and software vendors to ensure the network needs are met. Research new technologies and solutions, and asses new technologies for adoption Define multisite network operations and software applications. Train, mentor, and transfer skills to the extended team. Works on highly complex projects that require in-depth knowledge across multiple specialized architecture domains and networking layers. Aligns architecture strategy with business goals. Defines, explains, and advocates technology strategy. Skill Required / Desired Amount of Experience Experience in technical design and architecture around network equipment and network software systems. Required 7 Years Experience in handling issues that arise with large networks, prioritize network security and compliance, understanding security protocols, firewalls, Required 7 Years Network Security Frameworks and Best Practices, Cloud Networking and Virtualization Technologies, Internet of Things (IoT) Infrastructure and Protocol Required 7 Years Experience with Project data and documentation tools & experience with developing network design documentations and presentations using VISIO Required 7 Years Experience in design, build and maintain multi-tier networks Required 5 Years Advanced Network Design and Architecture planning, proficiency in Network Simulation and Modeling Tools Required 5 Years Conduct site assessment of current remote site WAN/LAN/WLAN environments, identifying network problem areas and develop hierarchical based network des Required 5 Years Designed and implemented multiple global Azure cloud solutions to support revenue generation.
