| Position: Senior Mainframe Software Engineer Duration: 8-12 months contract (will convert based on performance and headcount) Visa- USC or GC only Location: Buffalo, NY- Buffalo is highly preferred or someone who is willing to relocate. (2-days/week onsite) "Require Linkedin" Reason for need: Modernization effort in consumer lending of multiple mainframe systems interfacing (Shaw System-loan servicing, Hogan, etc.) They are in a process of moving source code off of mainframe into a Git repository. IBM (vendor they selected) has created a standard GUI environment called IDz that takes you out of the green screen into a programming environment. They will be adding distributed toolsets (DevOps like) such as Gitlab, Sonar products, automated testing, Ansible, etc. Fast forward, they will be working on pipeline setups, Sonar set ups, cloud distribution through Ansible, and ultimately get into some cool innovative things. Top 3-5 Responsibilities: Performing the design and solution architecture end to end. Not just hands on with drawing on the white board and passing it on. Someone who is full service. Someone who can be high level achiever that can do the design work, take accountability for complex programming, and take it through what does it mean to go to Unix system. Being able to digest the business functions and work hand and hands with analysts and try to break down complex processes Problem-solving and being able to come up with out of the box solutions Partnering and communication. Being able to organize. Must Have Requirements: Must have some tenure left before retirement to convert to FTE and be willing to convert to FTE (no resumes with experience in the 1980s please) Mainframe/COBOL experience Big picture thinking, problem solving, ability to dive into the details, and be code centric including the tools like (Xpediter/TSO/Abend-aid). Experience in solution architecting and design Banking (preferably consumer lending). Nice -to-have: Modern IBM z development platform including: IDz, zDIH, ADDI, DBB and z/OS Connect Distributed Systems experience (Gitlab, Sonar products, automated testing, Ansible, etc.) Shaw application (they interface with this using it for loans and lines of credit).
