Role : Senior UNIX/Linux Engineering Program Manager Location : Naperville Illinois onsite Contract Position . Key Responsibilities: Manage multiple complex UNIX/Linux infrastructure projects and initiatives simultaneously in a large, global environment Develop, maintain and implement strategic plans for UNIX/Linux systems across the organization Lead and mentor global team of UNIX/Linux engineers and administrators Ensure project deliverables are met on time and within budget Coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align UNIX/Linux initiatives with business objectives Conduct regular project status meetings and provide updates to senior management Identify and mitigate risks associated with UNIX/Linux infrastructure projects Drive continuous improvement in UNIX/Linux systems and processes Oversee capacity planning and resource allocation for UNIX/Linux environments Required Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; Master's degree preferred 10+ years of experience in UNIX/Linux systems administration and engineering 5+ years of experience in project management, preferably in a large, complex global environment Strong technical knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems, including Red Hat, CentOS, and Ubuntu Expertise in UNIX/Linux infrastructure design, implementation, and maintenance Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) Excellent leadership and team management skills Strong organizational and time management abilities Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal Proven track record of successfully delivering complex IT projects Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence) Relevant certifications such as Agile, PMP, ITIL, RHCE, or LPIC-3 are highly desirable Key Attributes: Structured and organized approach to work Driven and outcome-oriented mindset Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global environment Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills Adaptability to changing technological landscapes Strategic thinker with the ability to translate technical concepts to business stakeholders This profile outlines a senior-level position for a UNIX/Linux Engineering Program Manager with a strong technical background and project management expertise.
