This role is critical for maintaining, supporting, and enhancing legacy mainframe applications to ensure operational stability and meet business requirements. The ideal candidate has a strong background in COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2, with the ability to analyze, design, and develop mainframe solutions that meet company needs. Key Responsibilities: Design, Develop, and Maintain Mainframe Applications: Write, test, and deploy COBOL programs, CICS transactions, JCL scripts, and other mainframe components. Analyze Business Requirements: Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure alignment of technical solutions with business objectives. System Support and Troubleshooting: Provide ongoing support, debugging, and troubleshooting for mainframe applications. Work to resolve incidents and manage issues to maintain uptime. Performance Tuning: Optimize mainframe applications for efficiency and performance, using tools and best practices to monitor and enhance performance. Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including flowcharts, diagrams, and code comments to ensure maintainability of systems. Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and regression testing to ensure application stability and reliability. Data Management: Manage and maintain data within DB2 or other databases, ensuring data integrity and supporting business intelligence and reporting needs. Compliance and Security: Ensure applications adhere to organizational standards, compliance regulations, and security requirements. Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mainframe Developer or in a similar role. Proven experience in COBOL, CICS, JCL, and DB2. Knowledge of mainframe performance tuning and debugging techniques. Experience working with VSAM, REXX, and other mainframe utilities is a plus.
