General Motors Department: Cadillac Global Strategy & Operations Position: Data & Research Scientist Location: Warren, Michigan or Austin, Texas - Hybrid working onsite 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) for collaboration Years experience with each highlighted skills are needed. Requirements 8+ years of experience using data to solve problems, hypothesis testing, and create visualizations and storytelling to address business problems 8+ years of experience in data architecture and data base management 8+ years of professional development experience Solid experience with Big Data technologies in Data Bricks platform using Python/R Masters degree in STEM fields required. Ph. D in STEM fields preferred. Must have 8+ years of actual experience Research/Data Science/Analytics Background Sharp Technical/Statistical/Math skills Strong data storytelling, communication and presentation skills Displays curiosity and creativity Ability to liaise with business leads and create tangible next steps from data to create better business outcomes Auto industry preferred, not mandatory R or Python experience is mandatory Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities Work as an integral member within the Cadillac Global Strategy & Operations Team, with a focus on innovation and analytics providing a key data science component to support the development and execution of global strategy, research, innovation, and operations projects. Provide strong connection and support to strategy and operations managers by developing analytical solutions to address and improve KPIs and business results. Pursues problem identification and impact across large vehicle populations, leveraging data mining, predictive modeling, simulation, and visualization techniques to further enhance insight and internal performance optimization. Conduct Advanced Data Analysis and Automation: o Perform in-depth analysis and design search patterns. o Develop automation tools for data mining and reduction. Mentorship and Skill Development: o Mentor junior researchers and data scientists to enhance their analytical skills. o Foster a collaborative learning environment within the research and strategy team. Stay Informed on Technological Advancements: o Continuously update knowledge on the latest software and hardware innovations and ideate on how to apply. o Identify and implement cutting-edge solutions to meet research and strategy objectives. Collaborative Research and Statistical Application: o Establish strong working relationships with interdisciplinary teams including Enterprise Data and Analytics and IT. o Review research and strategy project requirements and apply appropriate statistical techniques to data. Data Collection and Refinement: o Drive the acquisition of new data and refine existing datasets. o Ensure data quality and relevance for ongoing research and strategy projects.
