Not a network engineer role. Looking for lots of apps that they report logs on, application logs, etc. Splunk is used to adjust logs, they were purchased by cisco. Need someone who can think outside the box. There are datalakes, and other things, looking for a log data engineer, how to take a disparate system of logs, and get them information from a certain application, how often someone is going to look at a log, is it security elated where folks are looking at ti all the time, is it a storage type role. Need someone to come in and figure out where to store the data, how often the data is looked at, approach on how to store the data, and see how often groups are able to access the logs Splunk is a nice to have, someone who has industry knowledge. Python knowledge to come in and help with that information. Different skills set from what they have been seeing. Cribl: just basic knowledge is not going to cut it, need in-depth experience and knowledge that understands it fully Candidates they have seen are splunk admins that have only done splunk work, resumes are very splunk heavy and cribl is nonexistent. They can tell within 5 minutes into the interview, candidates could not talk about cribl. Python is a critical skill for pipelines since its a data engineering role. Folks that have been presented as data engineers, they dont have any log experience, they are very high level. Data flow, what type of techniques have they used to filter the data, AWS knowledge: what core services have they used within aws, how did they use it Did they build using console, IaaS, what filters they applied, did they use python and to what extent. What libraries within python have they used, etc. How many years with cribl Cribl is very new so if anyone says 5 years then they are not being truthful, how to apply logic in cribl, how do you transform data. If we get these questions answered and submitted with the resumes, that will help with Shortlisting for them. They will send out a list of questions and will shortlist based off those answers. They have a 2 day a week policy, non-negotiable. Any contracts with TRP for contingent workers come with a 2 day onsite requirement. Monday & Tuesday- not flexible since thats when the team is going in. Relo candidates- as long as they are open and can work onsite from Day 1, then they are good. Splunk cloud is not required for this role Datalake: stream and search, what did they implement with Cribl data lake would be a nice question to ask All current candidates are disqualified. Just 1 additional submission slot per vendor. Keywords: information technology California Idaho Maryland Splunk Engineer at Owings Mills, MD - No H1B - Local to MD [email protected] |
