Currently their AP is in Peoplesoft/AP module. These architects are going to be the primary person(s) who need to own entire arch + design and as well talk to business on how to aspects. Basically, they need to drive things. If they have some background/knowledge of Accounts Payable systems/work flows + Payment flows, invoice processing, Ledgers, payables, Accruals. Cash flow, Amortization etc that would be great. But fundamentally their role is Data Architecture for entire system.
