Lurie Childrens Hospital of Chicago Job Summary We are seeking a Windows Server/System Engineer to join our IT team on a temporary basis to support backlogged tasks and critical operations. This role is focused on Windows server administration and Active Directory, working closely with our infrastructure and application teams to ensure peak system performance and reliability in a healthcare environment. Key Responsibilities Implement, maintain, and monitor server and client systems, including hardware, operating systems, and application software. Perform Windows System Administration tasks, including Active Directory management and general server maintenance. Support healthcare-specific IT applications such as Epic EMR or Lawson Financials. Administer Microsoft technologies, including Office 365, Exchange/Outlook, and Windows OS imaging and support. Provide technical support for networking and client/server applications in an enterprise environment. Develop and document procedures for client/server administration. Complete assigned tasks related to Service Desk support tickets and organizational projects. Act as a liaison with vendors for equipment and software maintenance. Perform performance monitoring and capacity planning for servers and applications. Serve on the on-call rotation for data center operations. ________________________________________ Must-Have Qualifications Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Technology, or Computer Science (or equivalent work experience). 1-3 years of experience in Windows server administration and Active Directory. Familiarity with server, network, and client operating systems (e.g., Microsoft Windows, HP-UX Unix). Experience with client/server-based equipment in a complex enterprise network environment. Knowledge of General Ledger, Chart of Accounts, and GAAP (healthcare focus is a plus). Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. Certifications in Microsoft or Unix-related systems (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, or Unix Certified Professional). Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. ________________________________________ Preferred Qualifications Experience with Citrix or Thin Client computing environments. Previous work in a healthcare IT environment with exposure to health systems such as Epic EMR. ________________________________________ Soft Skills Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent project management and organizational skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
