We have an exciting opportunity for a Network Engineer 4 to join our team supporting the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) at the Transportation Operations Center in Staunton, VA. This position is a 7-month contract with the potential for extension. Local- Candidate Virginia Job Summary: We are looking for a seasoned Network Engineer with 8-10 years of experience in network engineering, specifically with expertise in the following areas: Cisco Routing/Switching VLAN, Subnetting BGP/OSPF Radius/TACACS, DNS/DHCP STP/VTP, Multicast, VPN Key Responsibilities: Respond to Tier 1 network support requests, providing timely and effective communication with both teammates and customers. Design, configure, and deploy new network hardware and infrastructure. Maintain accurate project documentation, inventory, and maintenance records. Monitor and troubleshoot network faults, ensuring optimal resource performance and resolving connectivity issues. Track network changes, maintaining a detailed change history. Collaborate with ITS Field Maintenance for communications implementation and troubleshooting. Support cybersecurity efforts including threat hunting and mitigation. Manage time and resources efficiently to meet deadlines. Required Skills: 12+ years of experience with Cisco Routing/Switching, VLAN, Subnetting, BGP/OSPF, Radius/TACACS, DNS/DHCP, STP/VTP, Multicast, and VPN. In-depth knowledge of network protocols and architectures. Proven ability in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting. Soft Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. Strong multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Education & Experience: 8-10 years of network engineering experience or related field. Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
